The question of the
Cause of Existence is one of the most fundamental inquiries on the
path of knowledge. A deep logical and experiential analysis reveals that
existence itself is entirely uncaused.
Logical Impossibility of a Cause
To search for a cause of
existence is to fall into a logical trap.
- Everything is Existence: Existence is defined as the whole, the complete, all that is. If we assume a cause for Existence, that cause must have existed prior to it. However, anything that exists, by definition, must be part of Existence. Therefore, the cause is already included in Existence.
- No External Creator: The concept of an external creator who stands outside of Existence is absurd. A creator can only exist within the one Existence, not outside it.
- Uncaused and Timeless: Since there is no time outside of Existence, there can be no "before" or "after" for Existence. It is uncaused, timeless, and eternal.
The Illusion of Creation
- Transformation, Not Creation: In our everyday experience, we see things being "created" — a clay pot from clay or an ornament from gold. However, this is merely a change of form, not creation from nothing. Nothing comes out of nothing.
- Self-Organizing Potential: Existence is an infinite potential. Out of this potential, patterns and processes self-organize to appear as the world, but the underlying substance of everything is Existence itself. It is uncaused and remains as it is.
