Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience.

On the path of knowledge, pain is:

• An experience that appears to the experiencer

• A sensation in the body or mind

• Not what I am - the experiencer is beyond pain

• A teacher when examined with discernment

Pain is part of the duality of experience (pleasure/pain). The experiencer is the witness of both pain and pleasure.
