Grace

Grace Grace. It is grace to write about Grace. Grace is unexpected, unearned goodness or a gift that one receives. Grace is the field of presence of something higher, or an unexplained assurance that things will be fineor in fact that things are already fine as they are, because they are as they should be. It feels as though life itself is quietly arranging things for the best. When you feel its touch, worries and anxieties seem to drop their ironclad hold on you. *The river of grace flows; do not damn it with your mind- Kabir* You may be looking for something and doing everything possible to achieve it, yet still unable to get it. But when you come under the aegis of someone, or through some fortuitous coincidence, things begin to unfold as you had hoped, or you receive what you sought. For lack of a better word, we say it is Grace. *Grace begins where ego finally stops insisting on its way - Unknown* Grace has no obvious reason; everyone receives it. Yet a few long for it morethe seeker who one who yearns for Grace, the one who desires liberation. But who is eligible for it? One who cultivates certain qualitiessincerity, humility, purity, compassionand who has surrendered receives Grace. And the one who receives Grace becomes sincere, humble, pure, compassionate, and surrendered. These qualities and Grace appear together, though correlation does not necessarily imply causation. What can be said with some certainty is this: when receptivity is present and one stays the course, Grace and these qualities begin to nourish and deepen one another. Ask, and it is given. *Grace is ever-present. What is required is fitness to receive it.- Ramana Maharshi* Effort is like cleaning the room (purification); Grace is like the breeze that unexpectedly enters when the windows are open. Grace is both a gift we may receive and a quality we can bring into the worlda softening of the edges of demand toward oneself, toward others, and toward life. It is also Grace to recognize the presence of Grace. Grace rarely announces its arrival. It reveals itself only when we look back with a quieter mind. If one retraces to the point where he first felt the presence of Grace, he soon realizes that it had always been thereGrace. Grace can even change the course of a life. Perhaps the greatest Grace in life is the appearance of The Guru. .....................................................................................................................................................................................................................
