# Laws of Memory : Part 08 Welcome to Pure Experiences. This is a series on Laws of Memory. Today, we are going to discuss the fifth law: the Law of Perception-Creation. ## 5 Law of Perception-Creation You can also call it the Law of Manifestation. In Sanskrit, you can call it *Drishti-Srishti*. The meaning of the name is obvious. It means whatever we perceive is our own creation, and whatever we create, we perceive. The meaning is clear, but probably it will look like a riddle: How is that even possible? This is somewhat similar to mentalism mentioned in old books, which says, "Everything is mind." That's what we are saying since the beginning of this series. And if everything is mind, in rough language, you can say everything is a thought-like structure. Just like we create a thought in our minds, and then we perceive that thought, same way, the universal mind creates a thought structure, also called thought-form in occult, and that is perceived. So, everything is mind. This principle implies that everything that appears in the mind is a thought. But instead of "thought", if you substitute the word "imagination", now it becomes crystal clear. Thought is nothing but imagination of words. Some people, they think in words; it is imagination of you saying something, that's all it is. So, the thought can be in the form of sounds or images. And now the word "imagination" seems more meaningful. So, you can now roughly say that whatever is perceived is imagination of the universal mind. Creation is equal to imagination. Suddenly, that opens up so many possibilities. It reveals so many secrets that only an occult master knows if you contemplate on this one idea. The process of imagining can be called creation poetically, or it is another beautiful word for imagination. In this context, imagination and creation are synonyms. So, when you imagine something in your mind, if you consider the human experience of imagination, you can easily perceive it. Are you creating it, or are you perceiving it? This is a million-dollar question. Many people will say, "It is both. I imagine the same thing which I perceive. It is not that in the background I'm doing the work of imagination, and then after some time I get to look at it, or there is a separate process of creation and separate process of perception." Anybody will say, through their direct experience, it is not like that. The event of perception and imagination are one in your mind. We are now trying to study something which we know directly, which is our own mind, human mind, because probably we won't be able to know the universal mind. So that your direct experience itself is enough to establish this law: Perception equals to creation. All you needed was simple substitution of words. Instead of calling it creation, call it imagination, and they are the same. So, that solves everything now. This was easy. Same way, just as you are doing that perception-creation activity, the universal mind is also doing it. It creates by imagining. And nothing actually gets created if it is not perceived. Or if it gets created, it is perceived automatically. So perception is creation. Now, you need to take one more step and remove the universal mind and call it universal memory. Mind is simply an outdated word for memory and its processes. Memory means the non-physical, non-mental sea of potential, semi-stable vibration. This is the new way. It makes life very easy. We are not burdened by these encrypted words. What is mentalism? You mean somebody's thinking me into existence? Somebody's thinking the whole world? Is it possible? No, impossible, actually. So that's why we need to clarify the old language, the encrypted language, demystify. Then you will understand very clearly: The structures in the memory are created only when they are perceived. Otherwise, there is pure potential about which nothing can be said, nothing can be known. We can only deny that there is anythingnegative knowledge. So yes, the whole experience, whether it is world, body, or mind, is an imagination which is being perceived simultaneously. Without perception, there is actually no knowledge of it, and there is actually no creation. We cannot think of imagining something without perceiving it, experiencing it, or knowing it. You will say, "What kind of imagination is it if I cannot see it, if I cannot perceive it? If there is no experience of it, was there an imagination at all? Was there any creation in my mind?" And the answer is no. So, our direct experience establishes the Law of Perception-Creation. We simply need to extrapolate it to universal memory. This is what is happening. As I said many times now, everything is imagination. That does not mean that everything is fake. It means it has qualities of imagination, which means just like the imagination seems to be coming out of nothingactually, it is coming out of our memorywe never see the web memory, we never experience it. We experience only the irreducibles which float in the mental space, ghostly forms, but it is there. Its nature is empty; they are not made up of anything. Same way, the universal memory is imagining, and these forms appear in a screen which is empty. This is direct experience. And the law of emptiness and so on, they provide support for this law. If there is no substance of all the experience, if it is not made up of anything which can be known, then it must be imaginary. Now, everybody should understand why do we call all the experience illusion, mayathat which is not, that which appears, appearance. It is very simple: It is imagination, and the imagination is being perceived. That's all. That's all there is in the whole existence. At the level of human beings, we are imagination of the universal memory. We are a layered structure which is being perceived. That's all it is. Now, that's slightly demotivating because it gives us no reality. Yes, that is obvious; it's not real. But the good news is it opens up possibility of creating anything. Why can't the universal memory imagine anything else? And the answer is, yes, it can. It can imagine infinite things, and that is already happening. ### Why Can't the Human Machine Create? "But why can't I do that?" If by "I"the word "I", capital Iif you mean the human being, the body-mind machine, then you can't do that, because one imagination cannot imagine another imagination. One picture cannot create another picture on the screen. The screen can create pictures. You can say roughly, poetically, pictures are appearing on the screen, we can say the screen is imagining it, creating it, but it will be impossible for the picture to create another picture. So unfortunately, this body-mind machine cannot create, cannot imagine. Who imagines? Obviously, the universal memory. "No, I am imagining in my mind." No, there is no you. The whole imagination and you saying that "I'm imagining it" is imagination of the memory. Roughly, we can say that the memory is doing it. Universal memory is doing it. But that is not accurate. It is happening like this: spontaneously. Spontaneous creation. It is spontaneous imagination. How much creation there is? The answer is infinite. We already saw that. The memory can produce infinite structures because it is not real, virtual, dimensionless, emptiness. So it can imagine anything, and it can imagine infinite variety. Now, the question is: Why this current experience is limited? The limitation is due to senses. The senses, you can say, specially imagined structure, specially created structure, which limits the incoming vibrations, which limits what can be experienced. So, the memory can create anything, but since the senses apply a filter on itthey are like a windowthe end product is somewhat limited. But only somewhat, not much. Even with the same senses, you can perceive or you can experience infinite things. If you ask somebody, "How many pictures can you see?" and they will say, "As many as you present to me." Yes, the pictures will be mostly mixture of same colors, similar shapes, people, animals, and trees, and so on, buildings, or extraordinary like modern art or something which people never see and don't even want to see them again. So even with this limited sense of vision, the perceptions that it can take in are unlimited. They are limited by our lifetimes only, you can say. Same way, if you ask somebody, "How many songs can you hear? How many songs can you listen to?" They can say, "As many as they are produced. If you create infinite songs, I'll listen to infinite." The variety is infinite, even though the space of that perception will be defined or limited by the sense. And the good news is we can have infinite senses, even human beings, but they won't remain human. Ultimately, that happens through evolution. So, our direct experience and a little bit of logic proves that the perception is infinite, creation is infinite, because the memory is infinite. That which is getting created is being perceived. It is very simple. Unfortunately, the human beings don't create, because they are themselves creations, but the memory creates, you can say, poetically, roughly. And when the memory evolves through human form, beyond human, and so on, more things come into perception, more things get created. The range is infinite. Nothing exists if it is not appearing already, or we simply imagine or assume that if it was not being perceived, it existed as a pure potential, which is unknowable. No amount of description will shed any light on what is pure potential. It is our theory, another imagination, concept. So, this rule is never broken. You will never see something created which is not already perceived, and you won't be able to create anything if nothing is there to perceive it. It remains pure potential. And again, to answer this very important question: Who is creating? The short answer is: nobody. It happens like this. It happens according to this law. ### Manifestation and the Physical System There is a desire to create; that is not human desire. It is another creation of the memory. The memory works through this human instrument, uses its energy and the power of the human instrumentbody-mind instrumentto manifest something. That's all is happening. "No, no, I want to create, I want to manifest. Everything is mind, I'll imagine and it will happen." This is half-truth. Just don't assume that I am imagining. Let the imagination happen, and through the power of this body-mind instrument, something will get manifested, we don't know whatsomething or the other. Right now, it looks like that in this current system of memory, the physical world, you need to desire somethingthe desire is not yours, obviouslythen the imagination happens, where a little play happens of "What do I want?", little act happens in our imagination, and that sends all kinds of signals and emotions and drives into the body, and the body starts working, and something is manifested. "I want to manifest tomato soup." Immediately, you will start seeing things in your mind. Even as I'm speaking, your mind has already processed the desire, which was implanted by me. It took it as its own desire and already planned everything. Yes, it is not manifested yet in the physical world. So, what is imagined was tomato, then cutting, cooking, mixing, and so on, adding the salts and spices, whatever you want, butter, and in our imagination, the tomato soup is ready, hot tomato soup, mouthwatering already. So, if the desire is very strong, it will do its work. It will run through the nervous system, and it will reach the muscles. The body will get up, go and buy tomatoes, cook it; a physical tomato soup comes into being. Right now, it looks like the process is like this. There is no instant manifestation. It is instant in the mind, but this current system does not allow this. It needs to go through the process. We say in occult that the manifestation is slowed down by the gross body. It is not like this in your dreams or, let us say, other states of the mind, like astral projection, or even higher states. Many people will now agree here that in those states, whatever I imagine is already in that world, present in the world. In the dream, I imagine a flying carpet; it is already there, I'm already flying. The perception-creation is instantaneous, just like it should be ideally. So why is it delayed? Why does it take time, effort, energy, power, and so on, this instrument to cause any kind of materialization, manifestation here? This is a special kind of world. Remember the definition of word "world": It is the environment surrounding the senses and the body. It is a layer of the memory which is acted upon. So in this arrangement, current arrangement of a human experience, the world is slightly separated from the memory which imagines. But there is an interface between the two. That interface can be called the body. So the body has nervous system and muscles and bones. It is adapted to the world on one side, and it is equipped to take the imagination of the memory, and now the magic happens. In other statesdreams and so onthis separation is not there. Why is the system like this? And the answer is very easy: because there are all kinds of possibilities. This system, physical world, is also present as one of the possibilities, infinite possibilities. So that is not a big question. The real question is: What is the advantage of this, or why should I even stay here? Why don't I simply go in the dream world or some other non-physical, where everything is manifested? And the problem is control. This is the issue. If there is no control, the memory will keep manifesting, the memory will keep creating. Whatever is perceived will simply loop back, because, you know, what is perceived gets impressed on the memory, and whatever is in the memory gets created, imagined. So, mostly it will not produce anything. Ideally, what must happen is new experiences should come in, they should get impressed on the memorynot any experience, not the random experience, something useful. So they need to be limited. Senses do that. And this impression in the memory must be mixed with intelligence, knowledge, to imagine something which is new, or which is unique, which is probably combination of various experiences, and must be useful. The usefulness in this system is always defined by survival. If it is useful for survival, like tomato soup is useful for survival, there is a potential to produce that imagination, and it will take some effort and energy and power, and so on, to actually create it. That is the cost of isolation. The isolation costs energy. So energy must be expended to create anything. But the advantage is you get new things, you get useful things, and you get limited things. Remember, the limited means useful in terms of survival. If it is unlimited, random, everything goes, there is no life as we know it. This life is not possible. This human experience is not possible. So, in short, you can say the system, the physical world, is like the way it is to enable a human experience. Otherwise, everything goes. It is meaningless most of the time. That is why the in this physical world, the physical universe and human life is considered so valuable. You cannot imagine the value of it. It is very rare, and it is beautiful. The system is so perfect. ### The Human Condition The problem is the creation itself does not know what is going on. Creation means the human beings. They don't know why they are here, what are they doing. They see this beautiful creation as a struggle, as a hellish fantasy of some cruel person who is punishing me for not eating, for not reproducing, for not working as a slave of a corporate, not paying taxes to the government. And there are diseases, and there are this and that, hate, violence. "If I created this, why did I create this?" Any intelligent person will ask. But obviously, that is ignorance. You don't know what is happening, that is why you have turned it into a nightmare. It was a dream, beautiful dream. Everything that is needed for a very beautiful and useful human experience was already provided. It already evolved, it already got created through perception-creation law. Ignorance has caused problems. Ignorance ruined it allhuman ignorance. The Law of Perfection says the memory never does anything which is imperfect, which is unnecessary. So the cause must be something else. The cause is forgetting our true nature, what we are. We are creators, and just assuming that "I am this body-mind instrument", which is simply an interface between the slow-changing physical environment and the fast-changing memory. I'm not that. That is an instrument. There are sensors, transducers, that sense, and there are actuators or hands and feet and so on that do the work, act on the world. It is a robot. Why do you call it myself? All the trouble started when humans assumed that they are this body-mind machine. This was the fall of the man. This was somewhat recent, because if you pay attention to the old books, they all knew everything about everything else. They all knew about this memory and laws and all. This is not a new discovery of science from the big labs. No, it is ancient knowledge, so ancient that we don't even know how old it is. My true nature and the laws of the memory, and this whole model of the illusion, is very ancient. They knew all these things. Somehow something happened, and everything fell down. We know how that happened. We know why it happened. How can we claim that we know what happened? We don't know what happened exactly, but we can guess thanks to the laws of the memory. There are laws that give us an indication of what happens. These are called the laws of balance and laws of cycles. And we are going to study them, so there we'll discuss this issue somewhat more. Right now, you need to keep this in mind: that the perception-creation, this law, is applicable to the universal memory, the non-physical, non-mental memory, not to this human being, not to this body-mind machine. ### Rising Above the Law of Perception-Creation Stop complaining that "I cannot create anything." Obviously, you cannot. This law is not for, not made for, human beings. They themselves are imagination in the memory. Let us drop this ignorance and try to understand how to use this law. Yes, we cannot do the job which the memory is doing. We can become a medium for manifestation of this law of perception-creation. That will be called rising above the Law of Perception-Creation or rising above the Law of Manifestation. That will still not give you any superpowers to manifest anything, to create anything by simply imagining it. That will make you a very capable instrument which becomes a pure channel of universal desires to create. If no desire is mine, it is okay to say that it is universal desire. It appears in the existence, as usual. So, all that needs to be done is perfection of this instrument through which it will be manifested. Purification is the key here. All you need to do is get out of the way of this already perfect mechanism of perception-creation. And whatever you call as my desires, they will start appearing here, fully knowing they are not my desires. The ego processes in memory take credit for it, fully knowing that this can happen, and it is okay to happen, this is natural. You allow the perception-creation through this instrument. It is very simple. The difficulty arises because the ego gets in the way. Ego says, "This desire is mine. Now let me create something using this Law of Perception-Creation," and starts imagining something from its very tiny, limited memory. It knows a few things, that's all. And nothing happens. Everything fails, because there is a lot of ignorance here. Ignorance is the worst kind of impurity. Just throw it away. "I am the channel. I am the medium. I'm not the doer. I'm not the source of creation." This is knowledgethe correct connections in the memory. Now it is going to work nicely, this instrument. You don't need to destroy yourself or destroy the ego or destroy this beautiful machine, the human machine. You need to purify it, make it efficient, perfect, and whatever the existence is creating will be created. Do not take the credit for it: "I did this." No, it is not even good to say that "I am the medium. I allowed it." That is also not so correct. We can only say that this is how it happens through this instrument. So you rise above the Law of Manifestation or Perception-Creation by surrendering to the law. Now, the most magnificent creations can happen without much effort. You can ask any artist, good artist, "How are they creating? How much training they had? What techniques they are using?" and they will say, "It comes to me. Yes, I use these instrumentsbrush or musical instrument, paint, or even a PC, softwareto give it a material form. I use the power of the body to materialize it, but the creation itself has already happened in the mind. You need to simply download it." Download literally means converting the higher to lower. Lower is material. Body-mind of the artist is simply acting as an interface. If the interface is very pure, perfect, the creation is magnificent. It attracts an art lover, those who understand what is art. So, the artist will not take credit for it if you ask them in private. But they will write their name and sell it, which is simply survival activity. So you need to let it happen and stop imposing or controlling too much. The control can happen at the level of execution. Too much control means the original can get corrupted. So as little as possible, and it is done. Then the existence or the memory will choose this instrument again and again to get the job done, because an efficient and perfect worker is given the responsibility of jobs again and again. If you perform well, well, the boss will give you more work, not more salarymore work. So anyway, the memory has the capacity to recognize where is the purity, what is impure. That which is impure will get destroyed eventually; that which is pure, seeing the performance of it, will be perpetuated. It will persist for longer duration. Do not start imagining random things in your mind. Nothing will appear, nothing will happen. Let the creation happen naturally. ### Spiritual Evolution Now, the real stuff which everybody wants to do: How to get rid of this interface, this slower moving parts, and just instantaneously realize everything, just make everything real, whatever I imagine or whatever is imagined through me? That is also possible. That is the good news. And that is called evolution, specifically spiritual evolution. Why do I have this limitation of body-mind? Because I'm learning. I've reached this grade of learning in the school of learning, school of evolution. And I started with even more primitive instruments, body-mind machines of insects, plants, animals, and so on. Now evolution has reached to this level where the memory is appearing as a human being. I cannot say that I evolved. I can only say that it happened. So, it will happen again, just like I said, if you let it happen. If you don't become a hurdle yourself on your path, you are the biggest hurdle. Specifically, your ignorance is the biggest hurdle. So, everything starts with knowledge, and knowledge will make this instrument better and better. It will evolve faster and faster, and this body-mind machine will not disappear completely; it will change forms. We call it the light body. Some people will call it the divine body, angelic form, in Sanskrit *devayoni*, and so on, many names, which is simply upgraded version of body-mind instrument. Now it is not an interface between very high, high-vibrating, high-speed memory and a slow hardware, slow world. No, it is acting on equally fast worlds. So if the instrument changes, the interface changes, obviously the world that it will act in, the environment, also changes. And there, the speed mismatch is not there so much, and perception-creation happens instantly, without any delay or very small delay. Isn't that every tantric want? You want it so badly, I know. The key is evolution. Evolution is a never-ending process. So hopefully, you already started. Hopefully, you know what it is, how to do it. You have a path, you have a guide, whatever you call as guru, master, because without them, nothing is possible, really. No evolution will happen. It is just random, hit-and-trial, survival-of-the-fittest kind of evolution which naturally happens in the memory. That is another law, by the way: Law of Evolution, about which we'll talk more. There, probably we'll discuss faster ways to evolve instead of random selection, which is the natural way to evolve. So, if you want to really create, just like they show in moviesabracadabrayou will need to evolve to that level. Then this physical world will be left as it is, and you will get access to something higher, faster, where there is no delay, which is what we want. And actually, we don't want that. We want evolution, because nobody wants to get stuck in a world where you think and things appear. It is fun for some time. After a while, it becomes boring. You set your goalpost higher, somewhere else, and move on. Now more things can happen, more perception-creation. There is nothing else. There is infinite play of perception-creation. So, we'll end today's discussion here, and we'll continue with the next law in the next part.
