# Laws of Memory Part 24 Welcome to Pure Experiences. You are listening to the video series on Laws of Memory. In this concluding part of the series, we are going to discuss the last law in my list, which is the Law of Assembly. ## 20 - Law of Assembly This means that in the universal memory, all the structures, they are assemblies. A structure is created out of many parts, and those parts are then created out of smaller parts. A structure is assembled out of smaller parts. These smaller parts are themselves assemblies of even smaller parts. It also means that there is no structure which is a monolithic, standalone structure in the memory. In other words, all structures are nothing but aggregates. This is a direct consequence of the law of codependency, interconnectedness, repetition, and self-similarity, and probably some more laws like action, cause and effect. All these produce a very complex kind of structure, which can be only described as an assembly. Another way to say this is that everything is a group. There is no individuality of any kind. You can experience it directly by trying to find a standalone individual unit of any structure. Remember the meaning of individual: that which cannot be divided further. And there is nothing like this in the entire existence. You will always find that structures are made up of smaller structures, and if you go on dividing it, they actually disappear. They turn into changing vibrations; they don't remain a structure. It is not surprising actually, because everything is made up of vibrations. All the structures that appear in memory are patterns of vibrations, binary vibrations, and they are held together due to codependency and so on, interconnectedness. But if you try to take them apart, try to find the smallest thing which is the building block, you get nothing, because they are not made up of an actual building block. We say that everything is made up of vibration, but that vibration is simply a concept. It is imaginary. You will never see vibration that makes up something, but you will see some similar phenomena. In the case of physical matter, you can see the law of assembly. You can take a machine or a clock. It is made up of smaller parts. Then these parts are made up of even smaller parts. We are not talking about self-similar kind of situation here; it is not a fractal situation. The smaller parts may not resemble the larger part. And so if you try to find what the clock is made up of, you will not find one thing. The clock is not one thing; it is a group. We name it a clock, that gives us an illusion that it is one object. It is not. Some people will say it is a man-made object, so yes, it will be assembly. But you can take example of a tree again. Tree is a very useful metaphor in all of our discussions. So what is tree made up of? Is it individual tree? And if you take a closer look, you will see there are parts. Tree is made up of roots, trunk, branches, leaves, flowers, fruits. And if you try to take it apart, you will see cells. You try to take apart the cells, you will see various proteins and organic molecules. You try to take them apart and you will arrive at atoms and fundamental particles. And they are not really fundamental, because they can be destroyed. And in the end we get some kind of change, which we call energy. That energy quickly disappears, reabsorbed into other patterns. Sometimes we say that this energy was bound up in the patterns, it was crystallized, it was solidified or slowed down energy of vibrations. So surely according to the law of emptiness, we get nothing. But the interesting thing is, the molecules are made up of atoms. They are not individual. They are not monolithic elements. Cells are made up of molecules. Obviously, there are many small organs in the cell also. And the parts of the trees, like leaves, are made up of different kinds of cells. The tree is then made up of various different parts, assembly of parts. It does not stop there. Many trees assemble into a forest, and forests and lakes and rivers, they assemble into an ecosystem. And there are so many ecosystems which will create the whole planet. Various kinds of ecosystems assemble into a planet. And many planets and satellites, stars, they assemble into solar systems and galaxies and so on. There is no limit. The limit is our ignorance. If we cannot find something which is bigger than that, we assume that this is the final form. But the law of relativity says anything bigger can appear. You need to simply add something, copy it, it's done. There is nothing real; it's all virtual. So unlimited assemblies can appear of any size. There seems to be a lower limit in the physical world, but probably there is none in a specific kind of non-physical world. You can go on dividing till infinity. This is evident when we look at mathematics. You can go on dividing a specific number, it never ends. You never get zero. So mathematics is our language to describe the memory. ## Human Assembly You can take a look at bodies, and the human body or animal body is nothing different than the plant body, a tree, so we'll skip that. And we take a look at the mind, mental events. If you take a thought, a thought is made up of pictures, sounds, you trying to say something, past memories, desires, so on. It is A thought is an assembly. Same way emotions are made up of bodily sensations, feelings in the body, and feelings in the mind: happiness, love, hate, sadness, and various memories, thoughts that are mixed in that which evoke those emotions. An emotion is an assembly. You can check it. Ask somebody, "What was the purest emotion that you experienced? Remove everything from it." And it is not possible. It is mixed with many things. Same way you can take examples of sensation, like vision. It is made up of various shapes, colors, movements, brightness, darkness, and so on. It is not a pure sensation of one thing; it is an assembly. Same with other senses. And we can go above the human mind, human memory area, into the causal body. By now you must be familiar with causal body. It is made up of various kinds of storages, blueprints, experiences, memories, events, knowledge, many more things. It has a structure, it has processes, and it is an assembly. Then you can move up the ladder of layers of memory. The causal family is simply assembly of other causal bodies, and so on. The clusters and all, they are assembled out of smaller things. So it is very easy to prove this law, just need direct experience, and then you can use logic to extend it to everything. And of course, man-made things are assemblies, like a house is made up of many things, parts which are made up of smaller parts. The house is assembled. An electronic device is a very good example of assembly. It is made up of sometimes thousands of parts. And you can take a car, vehicles, train, airplane, they can have millions of parts. A city is made up of assembly of many structures. A society is made up of assembly of people. A library is assembly of books. Everything that you look at, you will find it is a group. There are some things which are at the border of purity. You take a gold slab, for example. It will have mostly gold atoms, but there is nothing like a gold slab, piece of gold. It is still a group of atoms, electrons, and so on. But for practical reasons, we assume that it is one solid monolithic thing. There is There is no impurity there; nothing is grouped into it. But technically that is wrong. You can take other chemicals, other other minerals, they are all assemblies. Our food is simply an assembly of various things that we can eat. Little bit of observation shows that everything appears in groups. We never find an individual which cannot be divided, and that kind of thing is not present in the existence. Everything is aggregates. And simply giving it a name gives us an illusion that it is one thing, but it is not. This becomes important when you ask, "Who am I?" And the answer is simple: as a human being, you are an aggregate. You are a group of smaller groups, assembly. It is well known now, cells, organs, bones, and various things in the body, they make up a human body. It is not an individual. So technically there is no individual. We point at group of things which seemingly operate together, and we call it individual, although there is nothing like that. It is seemingly independent because we ignore the connections. For example, a human body is not really independent. It needs air, water, food, shelter, so on. So the law of codependency is never broken. Even the assembly of seemingly independent things is not independent. Some people may want to give some examples here. Let us take a clock. Is the clock an assembly? Yes. But it is independent. When it is running, it needs nothing else. But that is not true. If you take a look, if it is a pendulum clock, it needs gravity. Without Earth below it, probably the pendulum will not work. So it is tightly linked to the Earth. If it is a spring kind of clock, it will need somebody to tighten the spring, and because it goes on for a while, it appears that it is independently moving. If it is a battery kind of clock, it will need a battery, and the battery needs to be charged or replaced, and so on. Sometimes these machines are plugged into power grid. Same for a car. You need some fuel in it. It is not independent. It is sending the exhaust into the atmosphere, and does not keep the burnt fuel inside it. So these groups are continuously exchanging material with other structures that makes them part of the bigger assembly. Otherwise, we would call them independent. So human body is not really independent; it is a smaller part of a bigger assembly. That bigger assembly can be called ecosystem or Earth, in short, roughly. Without Sun there cannot be Earth or any kind of life, so again, we have assembly. Where will it go? About what it will rotate? And so we need the Sun, and so on. But sometimes we make an approximation and we stop somewhere. We draw a boundary and we say, "Okay, the assembly ends here. This is the higher limit of the assembly." For a human body, we can say, "Okay, the skin of the body is the final limit of the assembly." We ignore the breathing and so on. And at the lower level, we stop at cells or molecules, whatever, and we say, "Yes, there is nothing below this." So for practical reasons, we set up the limits and it makes life easy, easy to understand how something is working. And sometimes we treat the whole assembly like an individual. When we sell the car, we do not sell each part of the car separately. We treat the whole car as one individual. Same way, when we say that somebody did this job, they did some work, we point to the whole body of that person. We do not say that eyes did this, brain did that, the hands and fingers, they did something else, the legs carried the stuff around. We never say like this. It will look very odd and strange, even though that is correct. Same way, when a factory produces a product, we usually say that the whole factory produced this product. We treat the factory as one, although it has hundreds of machines and people working in it that finally produces the object. So we set up the boundaries, virtual boundaries, for practical reasons. Sometimes things become too complicated and we need to assume that it is not useful to know beyond this limit, and so our ignorance becomes our boundary. So, no individual. There is nobody there which can be called a person or a man or a woman. There is an assembly that seems to be working together with other assemblies. That's all. Groups, groups of things which are again groups of smaller things. They are functional groups, they are linked together. That gives meaning, that gives us some kind of purpose to the whole assembly. But in itself, it has no purpose. Its purpose or meaning is then seen in connection to other assemblies, because it is a part of the group. So human beings and other animals and other things, they are not single things; they are all groups. A lone person has usually no meaning in their life, because they they find isolated from the society. It is very interesting that sometimes you find something which is isolated, surviving well, but what happens? Assemblies grow around them. For example, again a tree. You can have a single tree in a very large ground where, for many miles, there is no other tree. It can remain like that for a while, but the tree then produces seeds and fruits, and they are scattered around the tree, and some of them becomes trees, produce more fruits. So after hundreds of years, that whole ground area which was empty becomes a forest, an ecosystem. So if you leave something which is an individual, it will produce more patterns around it, and it will create an assembly. So even if we try to isolate things, they do not really get isolated. They are connected to something or the other. This is because of law of interconnectedness, because there is only one memory. So you can create things in the memory, but you can cannot isolate them. Where will you keep them? There is only memory, it is universal, omnipresent. So like this, you can gather more evidence if you want. We can move to the important part of the topic, which is a human mind. ## Mental Assembly Some people, they point to their head and say, "I am here. This is me." Assuming they don't mean the organs inside the head, we can understand that they mean the mind. "I am this, I am the mind," they will say. Mind roughly means their subjective activities, subjective actions: thinking, desiring, emotions, feelings, sensations, memories of life, skills, education, languages, knowledge, all these subjective things. But very quickly you will see that there is not one thing there which can be called myself. The whole list that I just recited gives away the secret. It is an assembly of all these things. So when they say, "I am here," they say, "I am the assembly that is inside my head." So which one is you? That will be the next question. If you are thoughts, which thought? Because they all come and go. If you are emotion, which emotion? "No, I am identified with these these memories. This happened to me. I learned this. I graduated. I worked like this." And they are trying to identify with something, "This is me." But these are all aggregates. They are all shadows of events that happened, illusions, illusory events. So there is no individual event which can be called me. So it is very funny, because the whole life of a person is supported by this false assumption of there being a me somewhere. Body? Mind? Somewhere in the mind? Somewhere in the body? Something at least, which will be myself, the core of me, essence of me? But there is nothing; it's all assembly. So those who have self-realization, they know we achieve self-realization through negating the assemblies. Not this, not that. We progressively eliminate everything that is assembly, or parts, or changing aspects, aggregates. Remove them, there is no me actually, no I. The I was that pointer that was pointing to one or the other assembly or group: mental, physical, bodily, does not matter. Supernatural, imaginary, occult, does not matter. It's all assemblies. There is one more characteristic of the assembly is that if you remove the one of the part of the assembly, replace it with something else, it still remains, it still works. Like if you remove one brick from the house, replace it with some other new brick, nothing happens to the house. You will still say, "This is my house." Some people will say it is the same house; it does not matter. Similarly, if you replace some parts of your car, you will still see it as my car. You need to replace a lot of them to recognize it as another car. And another funny thing is, if you replace the parts very slowly, one after the other, and there is no dividing line between the old object and new object, old group and new group, old assembly and new assembly, and an illusion of continuity is produced. We say it is the same object, slightly changed, probably, changed due to continuous upgradation. So a city is a good example. It is always changing. It is an assembly, group of buildings, roads, bridges, and many things. Every year hundreds of buildings are added. We never say that it is a different city. We say, "I'm going to the same city to which I went 10 years ago." But when you go there and it's completely different thing, but still we say it is the same. Something similar is happening to the body of a person. Cells are getting replaced. They are getting replaced so slowly that the illusion remains that it is the same body. It is not, actually. We eat, breathe, new cells form. Old cells die, they are excreted, or they burn up, we breathe them out. After few months and few years, we get a new assembly. That is how it is kept alive by growth, the process of growth. If this stops happening, it will decay and and die out. It will break down completely, because impermanent. The aggregates are continuously circulated in the environment to maintain this illusion of single body. So not only I'm not this assembly, this assembly is not even constant, it keeps changing. Because if one part is removed at a slow speed, slow enough speed, it almost becomes unnoticeable that something strange is going on, and we treat it as the same body. Even if it grows up from a child to a adult, and adult to a old person, we say, "It's same person." Although that is completely wrong. It is for the practical reasons, and also our ignorance. There is a lot of ignorance here, so much ignorance that we assume that it is the same person. We completely ignore what has happened there, what has happened to that assembly, and that is why it is called ignorance, because we fail to see, we do not see it. Now what about the mind? Yes, same thing. Everything in the mind, whatever you call mind, the mental phenomena, is very rapidly getting replaced. One thought replaces another in seconds. One emotion replaces another. Desires arrive and depart. Memories are formed and lost. Even though it is an assembly, it is not a constant assembly. This is very strange. Still we point to our head and say, "I am here." Some people point to their heart region and say, "I'm there," but it is the same thing. They're talking about their mental states, mental aggregates. It is probably conclusively proven that there is no individual: no physical, no bodily, no mental, no metaphysical, nothing, nothing. They are changing aggregates, assemblies, assemblies in motion. Due to self-organizing and other laws of the memory, it produces an illusion of sameness, semi-stability. And because if the new part in the assembly is functioning as well as the old part, we do not notice it, and we do not mind that it is something new. We accept it as part of the whole, welcome it. So yes, your body keeps changing, but if the new cell is working as well as the old, yes, it is myself, it is my body, my organs. Same way, if the new mental event is as good as the old, doesn't matter. Usually they are mostly copies. Remember the assemblies are functional assemblies. Even if their shape changes, the parts, they are slightly different, but they are doing the same thing. We don't really bother with it. Similarly, we can remove some things from the assembly, and if it works as a whole, we don't mind. So it is a little bit shocking that whatever I call as myself, individual, is not an individual. It is made up of parts that keep changing. They are themselves assemblies, and moreover, they are completely disposable. You can throw them, put something new, and it is naturally happening. So probably old seekers are not surprised or shocked by this. They already know there is no me, no I. But there is an illusion of me that keeps the life going. It is a practical thing, survival tendency, an artifact that evolved to keep the body-mind machine alive. That's all this I is, capital I. ## Ego, Me & Mine Okay, so some people will accept this fact. It's perfectly okay the body keeps changing, body is not me, yes. Perfectly okay the mind keeps changing, assembly, yes. But there is a illusion of continuity, and yes, these things are mine. The body is mine, and the mind is mine. These thoughts are my thoughts. These emotions are my emotions. I have a bad news there also. The me and mine are also illusions. If this cell in my body is mine, I should be able to keep it. But no, it goes away. If the whole body is mine, I should be able to keep it as I want it to be, like young forever, without any sickness or diseases, healthy, fit, beautiful. But no, it is not mine. It does whatever any assembly does. So there also the illusion can be broken very easily by defining what do you mean by mine. Do you simply call it mine, or there is some definition of it? Like, "I bought it, or I can do whatever I want with it, or I own it, I keep it, I made it"? No. All the answers come out to be negative. So it is not mine. "Okay, but these thoughts are mine. This desires are mine. These emotions are mine. I'm happy today. I was sad yesterday. I was angry last week." So the bad news continues. These aggregates, these groups of groups, they do their own thing. There is nothing which defines them as mine. They arrive mostly like in the body things arrive from outside, from the environment, through breathing and food and so intake, ingestion. Things arrive in the mind through senses in waking state. This is important: in waking state, these mental events, they arrive inside the mind through the windows of senses. You remove the senses, nothing will go in. So that connection is needed with the world. So why were you angry last week? Somebody must have said something which you heard, saw. Somebody must have done something. So it is theirs actually, not yours. The anger was given to you by somebody else, which was himself or herself an assembly. There also it came Something came from outside. He was upset or he was frustrated, maybe. That was taken from somebody else, somewhere else. So why are you happy today? You got something outside somewhere. You saw something, you met somebody. Otherwise, there is no reason. Or probably you remembered something past, and that was given to you by the memory, local memory. You ate something tasty, yes. One aggregate influencing the other aggregate. What is mine here? And it goes away quickly. The mental things, they are very fast, not like the body or the world. This concept of me and mine comes from ownership of objects, like we own objects. "I own a car, I own a house, I own clothes," and so on. So that is extended to body and also the mind. Why do people do that when it is wrong? It is not wrong; it is convenient. The ego is marking its boundary: "This is mine, this is mine, this is not mine." So like objects and land and so on, food, it says, "The body is mine," and it says, "These thoughts and everything and my beliefs and my knowledge is also mine." Although it is collected from outside. Your education is not yours; it has you simply memorized it from outside. Your food is not yours; you bought it from outside. Somebody else grew it. That somebody can say, "No, I paid the money." "No, you got the money from somebody else." "No, I did the work, and it was done by me." And that is wrong. It was done by the body. There is no me, remember this. And somebody gave the work. Somebody told you to work like this, "I'll pay you this much money." It is all assembly of work. If you do not join a company or a factory or a government organization or anything, there is no work. It is an assembly. It is all interdependent, codependent. Nothing is mine. "Yes, my house is mine. My land is mine. My property is mine." No, it is government's. Many people think that they own these things. No, they are allowed to call these things as theirs for a while. This was very obvious in ancient times. You own land in a village, you own a house, king's army comes, destroys everything, kills everybody in the family, takes the land, takes the house. It was very common, probably everyday thing. Whose land is that? Whose property is that? Whose family is that? Sometimes they take your wife and children and everybody. Now that is king's wife, queen. So nobody's yours. Nowadays, because of the little bit of social stability, you can say, illusory individuals get illusion of stability and order, lawfulness. They can call this house my house for time being, as you can sell it. It's not your house now. Government can take it anytime. They need to misplace a paper in some old office somewhere, they need to delete a record from database, gone, the house is gone. Same way your bank balance of millions of rupees is just numbers in some bank. It is not yours. There is a illusion of control that is fabricated by the society, but it is practical. It runs the system, as we say. So it's not wrong to call something as mine, but nothing is mine now. That is the fact. And moreover, there is no me, there is no I. There is no owner also. It owns nothing. It is all patterns of patterns, groups of groups, assemblies of assemblies. So let us go deeper into this matter, which is of spiritual significance now. "This desire is mine." No, it is not. We already saw that. So from where is it coming? Because people identify with their desires, "This is mine, and I desired it." But no, first the desire appears, then the ego tendency says it is mine, because it has appeared, it has appeared here in my mind. Nobody knows it, so logically it must be mine. That is wrong logic. There are millions of processes happening in the mind. Because we don't know it, we do not call it my process. When process appears and is known, suddenly it is mine. So desires are like boiling in the mind all the time. Sometimes a particularly strong desire surfaces in the mind, it becomes conscious, is known. There are millions of these tendencies, or you can say energies of the memory. Remember memory is not static. Whatever is stored there is moving, vibration. So sometimes some vibration picks up speed, multiplies, amplitude increases, gets more energy, or is fed more energy by something outside. Like you saw a beautiful dress, now the hidden desire which was already there, but which was very weak, gathers energy, because it got the energy from outside. Very good advertisement, brainwashing by the company, and you go and buy it. Action happens. So no desire is mine. There are so many that you cannot count them. They keep appearing, and they are running this aggregate, body-mind machine, often getting influenced by other groups outside it. It is a network, system within systems, more systems. So whose life are you living? Nobody's. This is shocking now. That's why I kept this law in the last, because this breaks many, many blind beliefs. You can call the whole universe as a clockwork of interconnected assemblies. Actually in ancient times they gave this metaphor. Nowadays you can call it a system, electromechanical, quantum system, some kind. But finally it is just non-physical, non-mental memory. ## Causal Assembly "But no, the causal body is individual," some people will say. "And these desires are coming from the causal body. Even though they are millions of them, they're coming from the causal body. Even all these births, incarnations, forms are coming from the causal body." And yes, I also told you the same thing. Remember it is all imaginary, it's all false story. Do not believe all these things which I am telling you. But that is practical. We can say, "Yes, my desire is coming from my causal body. I am the causal body now. The higher self is sending me all these messages, desires, through dreams," and so on, spiritual experiences. And the problem is the causal body itself is an assembly. Not only it is an assembly, it is a group of other causal bodies which were its part not so long ago, probably few thousand or million years ago. There is no time there, so we can simply talk in poetry. So is causal body disconnected from everything else? No, it is very tightly connected in a network. There is a network of causal bodies. There is no boundary between two causal bodies, because now we are beyond space, time, matter. We are talking about causal body. So what kind of boundary can you imagine there? No. It's just one memory, non-physical, non-mental, everything at once, not separated. The concept of time and separation breaks down. So again, bad news. You hoped that probably the causal body will be something individual, something which is me. No, it is not you. It is probably the least you. Probably the most you is the physical body, because it has clear boundary. Not so clear, but we can see it. The more gross the structure is, more clearly it is divided. But the causal body, you can say, is like clouds that are appearing, disappearing in the air, moisture in the air. It is so subtle, it is non-physical, purely non-physical. So no connection. It is interpenetrating with other causal bodies, especially to those where there are karmic bonds. What is this karmic bond? That I have already explained in the episode on law of action, bonds of action, where some energy exchange has already happened. This bond is stronger, the connection is stronger, it is heavy, and so more energy gets exchanged in those channels, like channels of a river. When it rains, it rains everywhere, but mostly the water flows through these streams which are ready-made, because since many hundred years the water was flowing through these streams. So there are streams between causal bodies, and there are rivers between those who are related somehow, those who are in contact since a long time. They are tightly bound. So any desire, any thought, any emotion that arrives in this individual can arrive from anywhere in the whole universal memory. It is not my mind; it is a group mind. So it's gone now. There is nothing which is you, there's nothing which is yours. Even the thoughts and desires that are coming in you, if there is an you left, are coming from a group, group of minds. It is a whole thing, it is an assembly of minds, assembly of memories, tendencies, desires, past experiences, knowledge. So ultimately there are groups. There is nobody, really. "What about my knowledge?" It is all accumulation. It came from somewhere else. "No, I've seen this thing with my own eyes." Yes, eyes are showing you, which is something outside you. There's nothing to know inside you. "No, I got this inspiration to create this art or something, song or painting." Yes, it is coming from the mental field. Remember the word: field. It is a field. I never called it mental object. It is a continuous field of mind. Some deeper layers of the mind, they pick up some extraordinary thoughts somewhere, which this individual mind is not capable of, and we call it new thought, new imagination, new creation. It is never new, actually. Same way somebody will say, "I discovered this." No, it came from the field. It is a group effort. That person who is discovering is already saying that, "I stand on the shoulders of a giant, of other giants. Many people have contributed, and this is my contribution," that person will say, scientist or engineer or artist. So nothing actually gets created, because it was already present somewhere in the assembly. It got transmitted from here to there. Remember there is infinite possibilities, so infinite things, events are already there. It is all timeless, so everything is present. It is all non-local, so everything is right now, right here. It only takes a little bit of connection, little bit of energetic connection, and that thing appears. It always appears as a group, assembly, part. ## Group Minds So you can see some examples of group minds in everyday life. Usually we do not attribute mind to a non-living thing, or even to vegetation, trees, but they have some simple mind. Obviously there is no individual mind. But you can take organisms now, simpler organisms, like ants or honeybees. It looks like each ant has a mind. It has intention, it is doing something on its own. But usually when you leave the ant alone, it does something meaningless or simply walks around. But if you place the ant in a group, there is some meaning in that. It is now collecting food, storing food. It is creating anthill, and so on. Suddenly it has greater intelligence than the individual ant. It is a group mind, group creature. Same about honeybees. Same way with any other herd animal. They depend on each other for their life, and they behave as one when the conditions are right, even though they have slightly separated minds. And this illusion of separation is higher in humans. But without a society, a human mind will behave probably very differently. Wouldn't be able to speak, wouldn't be able to express, won't understand many things, there won't be schools, there won't be countries, there won't be wars, there won't be crimes, there won't be marriages, no children. So actually that separation is not present. A human individual is actually part of the society. Without society there is nothing, no individual also. Same way our mental environment, if you simply take one thought, it is of no use. It is always related to some past memory, some knowledge, some emotion, some intelligence, something else, some action, some speech. It does not exist alone. Same way the deeper layers of the mind, or non-physical parts, they are nothing without the surrounding groups, entities. So the meaning of there being no individual is actually vast and terrifying. There is actually no individual. Even one thought will not be able to exist without the whole assembly. And the whole assembly will not exist, because it is a part of a larger assembly. You can name them anything, it's almost infinite or interconnected. It is circular, if you cannot imagine infinite, you can say. One thing depends on the other. One thing does not exist without the other. If it exists, it is always assembly, which is meaningless. It exists in a meaningless way. Its meaning is derived out of its interactions with something else. An assembly has a meaning only in relation to some other assembly. This is how it is. This is the law of assembly. It is not simply that everything is assembled, no. The deeper meaning of law of assembly is nothing exists if it is not interconnected, interrelated, interdependent, functionally, structurally. It has to be assembly. That is why it is called a law. So it will destroy many of other spiritual beliefs: "No, no, I'm reincarnating. This is my incarnation. Tell me how to progress." No. Causal body is incarnating, and it is already assembly. It's already connected very tightly to something or the other, and all these connections, they are influencing the reincarnation. So who is reincarnating? There's nobody. "No, no, I am evolving. I am doing." No. There's nobody who is evolving. There is evolution. It is evolution of the assembly, and all these influences, they are providing the input, whether they are physical influences, mental in the physical world, or supernatural, that means non-physical. The non-physical connections or influences, they manifest in the physical somewhere or the other. The higher assemblies, they are reflected in the lower assemblies because of our law of self-similarity. So although there is no individual, but it's always bound. These assemblies are bound together. There's no meaning. They don't even exist independently. So you can see how deep it goes. No reincarnation, no evolution, no progress. "No, no, I have this knowledge, self-realization. I'm the experiencer. I'm the Brahman." No, nobody has this knowledge. There's nobody there. And this knowledge is simply transferred from one part of the memory to another. Remember, we called that part where the knowledge is stored, spiritual knowledge, as a field of some kind. You can name it guru field. That was transferred here, and it will remain for a time being, impermanent, momentary. It's not your knowledge; it's momentary. It came from outside. It it was always in some other assembly, some other field, just flowing through this part of the memory right now. The knowledge is not mine. There is no me. Where do you stand now? There is no place to stand. The law of assembly completely removes your even the last vestige of individuality. Ego is gone. Ego death, ego destruction, simply by knowing the law of assembly. It is very powerful. So whatever was my knowledge came from somebody else. Now it is becoming your knowledge. Probably you will tell it to somebody else, and it is some something which is assembled, group. In isolation there is no knowledge. If it is not being transmitted from one area of the memory to another, it's not knowledge. The guru field is not a static thing, it is highly dynamic. It is flowing through the whole universal memory, like lightning bolts in the sky. Sometimes this happens: one bolt strikes some other assembly somewhere, the knowledge is transferred. But the knowledge is simply that there is nobody to get the knowledge. The evolution, the progress, all illusions that are happening in the assembly. What is evolving? Evolving means simply means changing form, taking more suitable form, and it is the assembled form. The form assembles according to the landscape. The fitness function shapes through assemblies. There is nobody who is evolving. Evolution seems to be happening, an illusion. It is an illusion. ## Rising Above Assemblies So how to rise above the law of assembly? You cannot. You are an assembly, and there is nobody there who can rise. Which part of the assembly should rise above this law? The question is wrong. There is no answer of it. Yes, but you can utilize the law of assembly by recognizing that everything is assembly, there is no me, there's no individual. Actually nothing like this ever appeared in this existence. Even one rock is not a single rock, it is assembly, different minerals and molecules. It is all flowing, exchanging with each other, it's all connected, it is all group. So that means either nothing exists or everything exists at once. Both sentences are mostly meaningless for a human being, because our ignorance tells us that everything exists separately as an individual thing. "My chair is my chair, and it is separate from my table," and so on, you see. We are used to this kind of ignorance. This dream seems to be real. This dream is made up of ignorance. So these thoughts that are coming in my mind, it looks like they're my thought in this dream, because there is an invisible boundary around me, my mind. Nobody can see my thoughts. I cannot see somebody else's. But remember the this one is not there who is claiming to have thoughts, and similarly there is nobody there who is thinking. But since it is all one, the whole assembly is thinking all kinds of thoughts. One can appear here, the other can appear there, it's all possible. So that gives us a lot of freedom when we relinquish the idea of individuality and embrace the group. We are a collective. We are a group mind. There is no me, there is no you. It is all one, and this one is appearing as various assemblies. They are functioning. Nobody does anything. That completely liberates the false individual, because the individual is bound by a doer, actor. If there is no actor, no doer, everything is just happening as assemblies, activities, processes in the assembly, that means the individual is now liberated. Who is evolving? Not me. So suddenly there is no burden of evolving. It is not my job alone now, although if I don't do it, the whole will not evolve. So it becomes a group activity. And now you will see the importance of service and cooperation, coordination. If the parts of the assembly do not cooperate, do not coordinate, they oppose each other, they destroy each other, yes, nothing will happen. The whole assembly will break down and it will be replaced by something better. So we can use this knowledge of law of assembly to strengthen the assembly, to make this group strong. Whatever you think is the group now, depending on the ignorance, because ignorance tells us that there is no group, but we can see it, we can see the effects of interconnections, we can see the effects of assembly. If something breaks somewhere, suddenly we are affected. We are affected somehow. You can extend this logic. Somebody thinks about myself, this individual, illusory individual here, this individual is affected simply by the thought that is there, because it is all connected, it's all assembly. And I'm not thinking about somebody else, it is the whole assembly that has produced this thought in me, and it will affect somebody else somewhere, because there are no boundaries. Whatever thoughts you are thinking are not yours, so that is another kind of freedom. You can drop the burden of whatever you think and do and feel. "It's not mine," you say, and check why these thoughts are coming. What should be coming instead? What is more positive? What is more constructive? What is destructive? What needs to be removed from the assembly? And so on. Rising above the law of assembly means not being ignorant about its working. Accept that it is a group mind, it is an anthill of the universal memory, and start contributing, start making this assembly better, stronger. And the strange thing is, when the part becomes strong, when the part itself functions properly, the whole group or the whole assembly functions properly. So the role of individual is not really over here, it actually starts now. But it starts in a more positive and meaningful way. You see yourself as a part of the whole. Now there is a meaning, there is a new meaning in the life, new meaning in your own existence. You do not exist for this one thing, for meaningless pursuits of meaningless activities. Now you exist for the whole. Even though you don't know what is this whole, like cells in our body do not know that they are working for a body. They will never see this body, and they will never know this, because it is so complicated assembly. Usually the part has no clue what this whole assembly is. The assembly knows the parts, yes, we already saw this. So we'll probably never know as a human being, at least, what are we working for, what are we contributing to. But because of law of assembly, we are almost sure that the this is the proper way, this is the right way to exist: as a part of the whole, as a functioning gear in the whole machinery of assemblies. It has some advantages, because all the human beings want is advantage, some kind of profit. There is profit. The parts that do not work, they are disassembled. There are highly intelligent processes going on in the whole universal memory. They can detect where is the fault, they throw them out. But something which is working and contributing to the whole is nurtured, is protected, is developed further. Without snatching the title of individuality, it is given a promotion, it is promoted, favored. It receives favors, powers, gifts. So recognize the assembly you are working in, contribute, you will get the benefit. Yes, there is nobody there which is benefited, it is another assembly which is benefited by a higher assembly. But we can pretend to be ignorant, we can say, "I'm the individual," and enjoy the benefits. But as you progress, you will get dominion over greater and greater assemblies. This I, me, and mine, it shifts to the higher and higher structures. This is the story, and you get to know the bigger assembly, bigger mind, the group mind, although there is no individual there, but there is a sense of groupness, there is a sense of belonging and connection that will go on increasing as the structure evolves. And it is already there. Due to ignorance, because we are not evolved, we are disconnected from this greater assembly. It is our ignorance that says, "I'm separate. I'm an individual, a single thing, and everything is outside me somewhere, unrelated to me." This is very destructive kind of ignorance. That part will be thrown out. It will it will get rotten, it will be rusted, it will be removed, replaced. So even though we have slight ignorance, we can rise above this ignorance. Check the law of assembly. Is it there or not? Get the direct experience, and align yourself according to this law, and you will rise, you will evolve, you will progress. ## Conclusion So this concludes this discussion on law of assembly, which is our last law in the list. This whole series will provide you with a starting point. It is the elementary knowledge of the laws, it is not detailed, but I tried to include as much as I can. Sometimes only after recording and publishing, I remember some important details which could not be included, so no problem. You can find them out yourself. Think about all these laws, find the evidence, discover more if you can, and continue progressing. Find a new purpose, new meaning, new goal in the light of all these laws. Give up the old, give up the ignorance, change, adapt, evolve. This is the whole purpose of broadcasting this series. Hopefully it was useful for many, and I'll see you in the next series.
