**Abstract**
Memory has traditionally been understood as the storage and retrieval of past experience. This paper proposes an integrated framework in which memory is understood as persistent patterned influence rather than static storage. 
Drawing upon contemporary neuroscience, systems theory, and philosophical inquiry, memory is described as a dynamic process emerging from experience-dependent modifications within self-organizing neural systems through neural oscillations, synaptic plasticity, and distributed network dynamics and gets expressed as enduring impressions that shape cognition, behaviour, identity and psychological conditioning.
From philosophical, primarily traditional eastern perspectives, change is the primary condition of manifested existence, and memory is understood as the persistence of impressions arising through its continuity. Living systems are themselves expressions of this ongoing process, and as they evolve increasingly complex capacities for cognition and intellect, these enduring impressions become available for recognition, interpretation, and expression as experience.
The distinction between registration and identification explains how experience modifies the organism before becoming integrated into the sense of self, while reflective awareness enables these conditioned patterns to be observed rather than identified with. 
Extending across biological, psychological, and experiential domains, this framework presents memory as a principle of adaptive continuity that unifies neural dynamics with philosophical perspectives and phenomenological interpretation on persistent impressions and awareness.
