# Laws of Memory Part 21 ## 17 - Law of Self-Similarity Welcome to Pure Experiences. You are listening to the series on Laws of Memory. The law number 17 is Law of Self-Similarity. It simply means that the part is similar to whole and the whole is similar to parts. A small area of the structure resembles bigger area, and the bigger area resembles the smaller area. The small is less detailed, simpler, and the bigger is complex, more detailed. So, this is also called "as above so below" and "as below so above." In modern language, you can call it the law of fractality. A fractal is a self-similar mathematical object. So, structures in the universal memory are often seen as a fractal. This is the more technical version of this law. ## The Fractal Nature of Memory This is a direct consequence of law of repetition and law of cycles. Law of cycles says that patterns repeat in time, and law of repetition says that they are mostly copies, they reproduce, and so repetition and similarity is the essence of a fractal structure. When the small patterns repeat in a cyclic way, it produces mathematically precise patterns, where the bigger is simply a more complex image of the smaller, because it is made up of self-similar smaller components. And you can trace it down to the fundamental vibration. Every pattern in the memory is simply a compounding of vibrations, mixture of vibrations. So if you represent vibration as up-down motion, then more complex patterns are formed out of mixing of this motion of different amplitude and frequency. And the overall vibrating pattern has self-similar smaller vibration in it. So it is a necessary consequence of how the patterns are made using the basic vibration, the dual or the binary state change. So self-similarity is also temporal, which means the patterns repeat in a self-similar way in time. There is a sequence in time of self-similar patterns. We saw this already in the law of cycles that there are cycles within cycles, again more cycles in the smaller cycles down to the tiniest cycle, which is basic vibration. So the whole event in space and time is self-similar. ## Self-Similarity Across Nature and the Body We can check it using our direct experience. You will find self-similarity starting from the mineral level. The crystals form self-similar objects because they are arrangement of a unit structure. You can see self-similarity in branching of rivers. Many streams, they converge into a bigger stream, and the bigger stream, they converge into a river. So a system of streams resembles the whole river system. This is a very good example of fractal. Another example is coastline. If you take a satellite picture, you will see a coastline which is very irregular. But if you zoom it to a 100-kilometer area, you will again see the coastline, but it will resemble the satellite picture. If you zoom in even more, you will see the coastline, but it is again mostly the same pattern, jagged coastline. If you keep zooming, you will reach centimeter level, but still it is mostly a simpler pattern. You can see fractal structure in mountains. If you look at a mountain from far away, it is mostly, let us say, triangle shaped. You go closer, it is made up of many small peaks in it. And if you look closer, you will see tiny peaks. So nature gives us fractal structures. They are a result of self-arrangement or self-organization. They organize themselves in such a way that the smaller parts they look like bigger parts, which is very natural. It is a result of repetition. Same patterns can be seen in clouds. Small clouds resemble bigger cloud. Bigger cloud has smaller sections of cloudy structures. They all look similar to each other. Now, in living matter, living things, we can see fractal patterns in roots of trees. Small section of the root looks like a big section of of the root. Small section of branches looks like the bigger section of branches, and that continues in even inside the leaf, where you will see branching. It is a result of the way the tree grows. It is self-organization. One cell divides into two, two to four, four to eight, like this, they arrange in a tree-like structure. You can see it in flowers, and a very interesting structure is cauliflower or broccoli. In human beings and animals, you can see self-similar structures in the branching of veins and arteries, and in nervous system. And this is seen in the mind also, that one state of the mind is often a result of group of similar thoughts or emotions. The whole personality of a person resembles individual thoughts and their behavior, manners, and speech. Tiny actions of a person compound into an overall personality. Sometimes you can guess from one or two sentences the complete mentality of a person. Not always, because person is a very complex pattern. ## Symmetry and Mirroring A result of self-similarity is mirroring or symmetry in technical language. Because of this dividing process, whether it is cell division or rivers or mountains, we see a certain kind of symmetry. The division starts from one, it becomes two, and then these two sometimes pick up a direction to divide, and then the structure develops in two directions, but it develops in a similar way. That produces a mirror structure, which is mirrored on an axis. You can see this symmetry in nature. In humans, it is mirrored on the vertical axis, left-right symmetry. The left part of the body is mirror of the right part of the body. It is called bilateral symmetry. The symmetry is seen in organs also, like lungs and kidney and the hemisphere of brain. Even external organs like eyes, ears, fingers, arms. This is simply a consequence of patterns repeating in two directions. More symmetries are seen in other creatures like starfish. It has radial symmetry. It is seen in flowers. There is a radial symmetry in five or six directions. Same pattern is seen. ## Higher Self-Similarity and Prediction We can immediately extend fractality and symmetry to complex patterns in the non-physical, non-mental memory. This is the interesting thing now. We can predict, and we can predict something which we cannot directly see, which is the higher structures in the memory. You can say that layers of the memory are self-similar. The layers below are doing something which higher layers are doing in a more complex way, probably in a longer amount of time. This law of self-similarity gives us a power to predict the structures which we cannot directly see. We can use logic here. A good example is: a cell in a human body takes in nutrition, does its processes, and then once it grows to a certain limit, it copies itself, divides, cell division, and then they complete their lives, and they die only after producing many more cells. This is a lower layer. You can say like this: layers of the body, divide the body into layers, this is happening at a lower level, lower layer. But the whole body is seen as doing the same thing. The body is born, it grows, at a certain time it grows enough, it reproduces, it lives its life, and then it dies. Life cycle of a cell is mostly similar to life cycle of the full individual, full organism. The organism also breathes and eats, so on. This is a higher level, you can say, more complex fractal level. But the same is true for the whole ecosystem. At a certain time, there are some kind of creatures in the ecosystem, some kind of vegetation, and the ecosystems they grow, repeat, and then they die off. So we can predict something higher by observing something lower, if you assume that this whole structure is fractal in nature. ## Causal Bodies and Causal Families So even if you cannot see the causal body or other higher layers in the memory, which are important for a human beingusually a seeker wants that kind of knowledge, we already know all the roots and plants and riversyou can guess the activity of causal body by extrapolating the lower layers. What are the lower layers? Physical body, physical organs, cells, so on. So you can guess that the causal body will be born, it will start somewhere as a patch of memories somewhere, although we don't know, we can guess like this, then it accumulates experiences, it takes the help of lower layers like various physical forms, smaller, bigger, simpler, complex. It grows, then a time comes when it is mature, it subdivides. We have called it the branching of the causal body, because even after branching, it does not disconnect from the branches. It is just like branching of a tree. So it subdivides, and smaller experiences are produced, smaller creatures appear through those causal bodies, it accumulates more experiences, and a family of causal body is formed. Their combined experience gives rise to a very complex, but self-similar structure of a causal family. And there is a ecosystem of the causal family, just like in our human society or any herd of animals. Self-similar way, we can predict there is an ecosystem of causal families. And sometimes we will find evidence, although it is not an evidence, it is personal experience, nobody will accept it as evidence. But you can find sometimes some events happen that hint towards there being higher structures above in the NPNM memory. So, I've never found any good names in occult literature. Usually they are, they were assumed to be different kinds of powers, hierarchy of powers, gods, deities. So that is confusing, because we immediately personify these things. They are not personal now. They are beyond the person. They are group minds. We'll study them in coming episodes, when we study the law of assembly, very important law. ## Group Minds and Clusters So, all we can say right now is these impressions that are being self-organized in memory form a group or a cluster. They are clustered. Cluster can be identified by their similar properties. So you can have a plant kingdom cluster, because the causal bodies there mostly produce plant-like structures, plant life. You can have a animal cluster, which will produce land animals or sea animals, and there there are fractal divisions in those clusters. Like there will be a cluster only for cats, where all the different species of cats are interconnected. Remember the law of interconnection. They are repeating self-similar way, but there are slight deviations, like mutations, like we saw. It produces different species of cats, but they have corresponding causal bodies. So there is a big cluster which represents all the cats in the universe, or in the on the Earth. That can be called the cat spirit. Now you can join the dots between modern interpretation of theory of memory and ancient beliefs. Ancient people thought that there is a spirit corresponding to everything in the nature. Cats have a cat spirit, wolves have a wolf spirit, tigers have a tiger spirit, and similarly the whole jungle, the ecosystem, has one spirit. Here the spirit means, in our terminology, a cluster. The cluster is not something dumb rock like a like structure in memory. It is very dynamic. It is very active. It is alive. Probably it is more alive than the individual parts, self-similar parts. Like we can say a human being is more alive, more complex compared to a cell or organ. Although cell is not dead, but a human being is a higher form in spiritual terminology. So a cell has an intelligence, yes. It does whatever is needed for its its life. The information and intelligence and knowledge is there in a cell. And same thing about organs. They know what to do. Heart knows what to do, lungs know what to do. They have an intelligence. They work towards their goals. Similarly, the whole human body, body-mind machine, has an intelligence which is higher intelligence. It is higher compared to cells and other things. But it is similar. Similarity lies in: it also has a goal, it also has an intention, it also does the DGR activitiesdefense, growth, reproduction. It knows what to do. Any normal, ordinary human knows how to survive, what to eat. Same about animals, same about plants. ## The Hierarchy of Intelligence The higher layer has a higher knowledge and higher intelligence. Now, that does not look like a total guesswork. It is based on our direct experience. Logically, it is correct. So use the law of self-similarity, and you can say very confidently that the higher levels have a higher knowledge and higher intelligence. The only problem is, right now a human being, we can assume that we all are at the level or layer of human beings, we cannot understand the higher intelligence, just like a cell will never be able to understand what a human being thinks and knows and does. It's beyond the ability of a cell. Cell is tiny. Even a whole organ will not understand that it is a part of the organism. The smaller intelligences do not have enough ability to understand the higher intelligence. This is a limitation, this is a fundamental limitation, because of reduced complexity at the lower layers. Same way, a higher intelligence can completely understand the lower intelligence. This itself is a sub-law, you can say, that the higher knows the lower, but the lower usually does not know the higher. It can guess about the higher. It's not a big issue, but it will never know completely. But the higher intelligence can know the lower. It can understand what is happening at the lower level. A dog or cat or a mouse cannot understand human beings, the activities of human beings. They're too complicated, too intelligent. Similarly, human beings do not understand, at least one person in the world will not understand all the machines that humans themselves have produced. Even a whole company does not understand the AI that they have produced, because AI is nowadays, at least, has a higher intelligence. We do not know what it is, but the intelligence is not so high and it is not beyond our comprehension at least, and we can say that the AI also does not understand what a human being is. But they have the potential to form even higher layers, self-similar systems, complex systems that will one day understand human beings. That can happen very quickly. So we have these examples. Many people do not know what is a causal body, because that is not only beyond understanding, that is beyond our senses. Cannot see it, cannot experience it completely. We can experience its effects. For example, if you eat food, the cells in the body experience the rise of energy and nutrition. They will never know what happened that produced this. So we get the effects from the causal body, influences, but we never know. And we will never know whose causal body that is in the whole causal family from where that effect came. This is somewhat concerning for a seeker, but we'll discuss about that that in our discussion on law of assembly or law of group minds. This is eye-opening. I'm giving you only a hint. Then don't think that I am the causal body. It is not a simple thing. Yes, you can project a higher intelligence on it. It is not a person still. Even the person that we assume ourselves to be is not an individual thing. It is not one thing, it is nothing separate. It is a collection of self-similar structures in the memory, that's all it is, and the structure continues above. This is our prediction. Study of these laws give us a power to predict, just like any good scientific theory does. ## Greater Minds and the Universal Mind So the cluster of causal bodies can be extended. All these clusters, they form a group. I've given it a name of local cluster or local neighborhood. Although it is so big that it is beyond our comprehension, but nobody stops us from naming them and imagining about them. These words are, you can already guess, borrowed from astronomy, cosmology. Just like there are galaxies and there is a cluster of galaxies and there is local neighborhood, and so on. We have extended the terminology into non-physical structures in memory. So they are known by interconnections and mutual influences. That is the criteria to cluster them or to form neighborhoods. So there is a whole cluster of human beings. You can guess like that. And there is a neighborhood of human-like creatures. How many? We cannot even imagine how many will be there. You can name them as non-physical entities, aliens, or paranormal creatures, angelic creatures, astral forms. And there are many names now, dozens of names for them in occult literature. Unfortunately, in Sanskrit most of them are called devas, which means self-luminous entities. And it is almost a consensus among occult people, masters, that they have a higher intelligence. Although some will say that, "No, there are various entities of lower intelligence." Yes, but mostly we don't pay attention to them. So yes, there is a possibility of higher intelligences. There is a possibility of hierarchy of minds. This is shown by the law of self-similarity very clearly. But we'll never understand, we'll never know, what are the mental processes of a causal family, how does it operate, how big time scales it operates, probably million years, thousand years, we don't know. We'll see the changes in the causal structures reflected in human society. It changes, it is not constant. And the whole cluster grows or evolves. One day it evolves to a level where it modifies its surroundings and creates a world of its choice. This is the concept of co-creation. These causal families and causal bodies, causal individuals, they choose to form an environment around them. They have that intelligence and power. That will be called an universe or a world. So right now you can guess that we all humans are a part of some cluster of causal bodies. They have decided to form a universe which looks like physical universe, but it is a layered structure in memory, and they have done this for a purpose, a greater purpose, which we'll never understand, but we can guess that the purpose is evolution, progress, betterment, more happiness, more freedom. Because we got those tiny drives and purposes, goals, we can see what we are trying to achieve, and we can guess the higher purpose. So here our theory is mostly explaining whatever the occult people say and whatever gurus and masters say. But we should not overlay blind beliefs on that. This much madness is okay. This is also very crazy, but this gives you a bigger picture, what is happening. It removes a little bit of blindness that humans have, thanks to the law of self-similarity. That law sounds very innocent, but it is very powerful. So the small is evolving because the whole is evolving. There is a direction there, and the whole evolves through evolution of the parts. This is an important conclusion. We'll discuss this more in the discussion on law of evolution. So we'll continue with self-similarity right now. These clusters, the local neighborhood, they also form groups, and many local neighborhoods they form a greater neighborhood, greater cluster. And that is what we will be calling as a greater mind. Right now we are in a small section of the greater mind. And almost uncountable numbers of greater minds, they form the universal mind. Now, it is beyond understanding. It is almost infinite. What it does and what it thinks is superhuman, supersupersuperhuman. There is no possibility of even imagining it. ## Rising Above Self-Similarity So mostly a spiritual seeker is concerned up to their causal body. There is no use of thinking beyond that most of the time. We are given a mission. We are concerned with up to the causal body, and a non-spiritual person, an ordinary person, is concerned up to the person levelphysical body and mind. We can see only just one step ahead what lies on the evolutionary ladder, and we want to achieve that. We want to go there. This is the whole journey of a spiritual person. That as soon as you're ready for the next step, the next step is shown. Nothing beyond them that is visible mostly. You can guess and you can theorize and you can you can sometimes believe blindly also, there is no harm here, because it is beyond understanding. Sometimes if you practice different occult techniques, you can get a glimpse of all these areas, all these memory structures. They are memories, they are just like memories. Experiences of various kinds. Sometimes you will meet higher entities. They will be downloaded or they will be down-converted in forms that humans can understand. The form will be self-similar and will be within the limits of human intellect. And sometimes it will look like a human also or another creature. You can practice, use occult techniques to directly connect to the causal body, any causal body you are interested in. Usually it is my own causal body, whatever I call as my own. There is no harm in calling it my causal body this, although there is no such thing. And you can perform that technique, and so on. And you can envision the causal body. You can make the causal body appear in a form which you can understand. It will be mostly a dream-like, projection-like experience, with the causal body appearing as your own form, human form. It is all completely made-up and false, like a small dream and drama. But the knowledge that it provides is real, is useful. So these kind of experiences will be called as meeting your higher self or meeting your spirit, meeting your spirit guide. Now, we have explained some more of the occult concepts using our theory. It was completely imaginary theory, laws and all, but it is powerful, because it is explaining many things now. Since the causal bodies are on a path towards evolution, or many are towards devolution also, they're going towards destruction, which is a normal thing in universal memory, those that are evolving, they want to help each other, because they know that progress of one is progress of whole. This much wisdom every self-respecting seeker must have: that I cannot progress alone. The tree knows that health of all its leaves is important for my health. Human body knows that health of all the organs and good functioning of them is important for my total health and wellness. Same way, the causal body knows that all my parts, all my incarnations, they need to be helped, because they are the means through which the causal body is evolving, taking higher and complex forms. So help is sent. The different branching of the causal body, different parts, and the whole cluster tries to help every individual part, especially when it is urgent, when it is needed. For example, you get a cut on your finger, you leave everything that you are doing, you go and help that finger. You stick a Band-Aid on it, put antibiotic or whatever, and you let it heal. You don't say that finger is a small part of me and it will do whatever it wants, who cares. No, you will never say like this. Only a very ignorant person will say that. Same way, a master, a guru, will never say that I'll let everybody suffer, perish, die off, devolve into lower forms, I'll do nothing. Only a very retarded master will say like this. Most of them, they jump into the arena, physical world, and they help others, because that is me. These all are simply my self-similar parts. You and me are one. So that explains bodhisattva tendency, that explains altruism, and so on, which the lower kind of physical theories do not explain, or they try to explain, but they're not as beautiful as this theory. You can see a perfection in a theory not only because it explains, it must explain everything simply and beautifully: simplicity. So our theory of vibronics, non-physical, non-mental memory, actually does a very good job of explaining higher phenomena which the materialistic theories cannot even touch. The materialistic theories will simply dismiss it. "It is it never happens," they will say. "It is beyond scientific investigation," they will say. No, it is not beyond scientific investigation. Their intelligence is beyond this kind of understanding. That's why they are limited to lower theories. An occult master or a spiritual seeker is not limited by smaller, less capable materialistic theories. We have the ability to form higher scientific theories and explain whatever we see, whatever we experience directly. Those in the field of spirituality have experienced all these things. They have seen masters, they have known the masters who keep saying all these things: "We are one. We need to help each other. I'm here to help you. That is my whole mission of this incarnation is to only help you, help as many as possible, because they cannot help all." So now you can imagine the guru field, which is a specific layer, specific field with a mission, and it is a cluster of spiritual minds. That's all it is, higher minds. You can extend the theory and imagine, because theory is simply imagination, imagine more such fields of different levels of organization. But you can expect self-similarity. You will find another cluster somewhere, and they are also doing the same thing. They are playing the same game. They are also helping their own kind, and so on. ## Finding Direction on the Path So how to take advantage of self-similarity? Because there is no point in rising above it. It is already perfect, and rising above does not mean that I break out of self-similarity because it is boring, I don't want to be similar to anybody. That is not the correct interpretation of rising above. It will simply mean that you take advantage of self-similarity. And we already took it, an advantage. We saw something which we are not able to see with our eyes normally. We guessed something higher than humans. It is rare to do that. Nobody does it actually. We have a path, and the path is self-similar. You can guess the trends that are coming. When you started on a spiritual path, did your knowledge grow? Did your intelligence grow? Did you leave all the stupid things which ordinary people do? Have you gotten rid of the lower tendencies and all? If the answer is yes, then self-similar things will happen in future. You can guess it now. You have the knowledge. There will be more intelligence, more knowledge, more experience, and more dropping of the lower nature, more letting go. So once you can see this, you will not resist it. This is where I'm going. Yes, you have an idea, a very faint vision, but you know that this will happen. Nothing else can happen actually. Many people will see that they will become a master or a guru and join the guru field. What else can happen? How much can the individual grow? Ultimately, it must contribute to the growth of the whole. This is common sense. So you can see where you are going. Even a very powerful tantrik knows that he is destined to become a deity or a deva or a higher embodiment, and they will produce more causal bodies, more worlds, and more clusters, and so on. We are in a body of a tantrik right now. You won't recognize it. [laughter] So we can guess some things that are coming, and we can take advantage of this knowledge. It is not a completely blind belief, but it is a belief. We cannot say that I know for certain, but it is logical. Nothing else will be known. This must be kept in mind. And the important thing that we know that the process of spiritual evolution is not random. You will not grow somewhere randomly and become something random. No. You are growing towards the whole. The journey is from individuality to universality. Nothing else will happen. This is important knowledge for any seeker. So you will never get lost in the jungle of spirituality, in various communities, hundreds of paths, thousands of gurus. Sometimes a seeker feels lost. But if you know the laws of memory, if you are understanding, if you're with me, you're following me, you will never get lost. You will never get confused. You will have a very clear direction, very clear purpose, and you can choose now your path and practices and masters with more intelligence, meaning, and purpose, instead of randomly doing some idiotic practices which you saw on YouTube. [laughter] You you have right now a power to choose intelligently. Intelligence means with intent. It does not mean somebody who can memorize a full book. [laughter] No, that is stupidity. What do you want to do, and do you know how to do it? Yes. Then you have the intelligence, you have the intent, you have the ability. So this will grow. Your path will become clearer and clearer. As you walk on the path, the path appears. Otherwise, you'll not know. If you have trust on your guru, then this journey becomes smoother. You don't need to worry too much. "I don't see, I don't see." No, don't worry. Your master sees, your guru knows already. He has already reached there. He will take you. That is his mission. He is more worried about your progress than you are worried about your own. You can see a self-similar happening in your family. When you are little child, your parents were worried about your well-being. You were not. You just enjoyed whatever came. Your parents were worried what will you eat, when will you sleep, whom you meet, what kind of education you get, and so on. You had no idea, but you simply trusted your parents. Same way, a guru is a bigger parent. Guru is higher than mother and father. So higher does not mean having more authority. It can mean in some cultures. Higher means higher intelligence, higher purpose, higher knowledge, and so on. Those who don't have a guru, they can still join some occult path where blind belief on and surrender towards the guru is not needed. There are some paths for such people, and they are mostly occult paths. They are focused on self-effort. You make your own effort, know yourself, and there the guides are mostly your own causal body or other causal bodies, or something in the hierarchy which we don't understand. They will guide you. They will show you actually. They will not guide you [laughter] by lecturing you. They will guide you by demonstration, which many scientific-minded people want. They want to learn from their own experience. They say, "Don't teach me, I know everything." So for such people, there are self-exploration paths. Most of them are occult in nature. It depends on direct experience actually. But you can take shortcut. [laughter] You can rely on the understanding of those who are higher than you, and you can take a leap of faith towards your goal. For such people, there are different paths. So you can utilize this kind of self-similarity. See that you are a small part of your master. You are a small part of the whole tradition or the path, parampara, sangha, whatever you want to call it. It is a cluster of something. You see that there is a higher spirit that is guiding its tiny cells, which look like individual humans. Even if you cannot see it with your eyes, you can see it with your eyes of wisdom, eyes of knowledge. So this recognition will give you a higher purpose. It will open up your intelligence. It will open up your possibilities. And whenever you see self-similar structures, you will be reminded that I am one of the branches in this whole root system of a infinite forest.
