Help

This help page explains how the Path of Knowledge Podcast works. It will be expanded as the service grows.

Introduction

The Path of Knowledge Podcast is a free service for seekers of the path of knowledge. It lets you publish audio podcasts on the topic of the path of knowledge, and listen to the podcasts of other seekers.

Listening is open to everyone. To publish, you have to complete step 3 of the Essence of Knowledge program.

Listening

To listen, open Listen and choose an author to see their podcasts. Open a podcast to see its episodes and press Play. From an episode you can also Download the audio file or Share its link.

Creating a new podcast

Go to Create and press Create New Podcast. Give the podcast a name, a description and your author name, set the website and choose a category and a cover image.

An author can run several podcasts, each with its own episodes and its own feed.

Adding episodes

Go to Create and press Create New Episode. Pick the podcast, enter a title and a description, then upload the audio file. The episode is saved as a draft, and you publish it from the dashboard.

Specifications of audio files and images

Audio: MP3, M4A or OGG; 30 seconds to 5 hours; 64 to 320 kbps; 44.1 kHz sample rate; up to 100 MB.

Album art: JPG or PNG; square; 1400 x 1400 to 3000 x 3000 pixels; up to 5 MB.

Introduction to XML feeds

A podcast is distributed as an RSS feed, a small XML file that lists your show and its episodes. Podcast apps and directories read this file to show your show, its artwork and its episodes.

Your feed is generated automatically and always shows the latest episodes. Every episode in it carries the audio file, its length and its duration.

Configuring and generating feeds

On the Configure XML Feed page, pick your podcast and set the feed language, owner, copyright and keywords. Press Generate Feed to save the settings and write a static copy of the feed. You can then copy the dynamic or the static link.

Submitting feeds to podcast directories

Copy your feed link and submit it to the directories: Apple Podcasts (Podcasts Connect), Spotify for Creators, Amazon Music and others.

Submit the dynamic link, it always shows the latest episodes. If a directory does not accept it, use the static copy instead.

Dashboard actions

The dashboard shows your statistics and the actions. Podcast Actions: create a podcast, edit its settings, configure its feed. Episode Actions: add episodes and manage, publish or delete them.

Admin section and actions (admins only)

The admin page shows all podcasts, authors and episodes, and the storage used. An admin can rename an author, delete a single episode, delete all episodes of an author, delete a whole podcast, or delete an author and all of their data.
