Evaluation

From The Path of Knowledge
Jump to navigation Jump to search

It is judgment of one’s progress on spiritual path. While that which 'I am' can never progress, that already is the Highest; what progresses is this creature, this machine.

On the direct path, this evaluation is not of much use. However, on other paths it is important

  • to correct any errors
  • to remove any obstacles
  • pick a suitable path

A lot of time is saved when evaluating one's progress.

Evaluation of others

We do it instinctively based on our in-built programs, based on how they look, what they wear, how they speak, their education, financial status and so on. We do it all the time and it is an important survival instinct. But it can be done systematically. Once we know who we are, it is very easy to assess them. But it should not be misused to manipulate others, and not to be done unless they ask for it. It is also important not to discriminate, all have equal potential. Accept everyone.

Warnings

May not be 100% accurate since mental structures keep changing all the time. A person can change completely even in a short span of time. Consult your teacher when in doubt.

Measure

We measure based on the relative activity of the layers. This measure is arbitrary and subjective. Everyone is unique. This measure is a very general for a very unique activity. More evolved a seeker is, more balanced the activity is. Everyone has active layers-from lowest to highest!

Parameters

We use the following and most important parameters where activity appears as:

  • Behaviour
  • Speech
  • Thought
  • Relations
  • Entertainment
  • Mental Afflictions

These are not to be guessed, not to be concluded from race, caste and gender. Use direct experience or logic. Study the person, see them in person and spend time with them. Layers are many but are grouped in seven types for the sake of convenience.
