Freedom (Skt. मोक्ष
Moksha or मुक्ति
Mukti) on the
path of knowledge is complete liberation from
ignorance, conditioning,
indoctrination, and the mental prison of
blind beliefs.
Teachings
- Bondage is an illusion. The body-mind appears to be limited and bound, but you are not that.
- Nothing special needs to be done to be free. It is your true nature.
- You are essentially free, simply recognize your true nature and realize that.
The Nature of Freedom
- Already Free: Freedom is not a state to be achieved, bought, or constructed in the future. The experiencer (your true Self) is eternally, infinitely, and changelessly free. The sense of bondage is merely an illusion that arises when we identify with the changing body, mind, and ego.
- Freedom in the World: True freedom is not about running away to a cave or escaping our responsibilities. It is about being fully in the world but completely free from the slavery of habits, desires, and emotions.
- Subtractive Path: We do not gain freedom; we simply lose the baggage of ignorance. Once all false assumptions, superstitions, and identifications are wiped out, the natural state of freedom and bliss shines on its own.
The Way to Freedom
- Listening: Actively studying and absorbing the teachings.
- Contemplation: Critically pondering the teachings and verifying them with your own sound logic.
- Abiding: Directly recognizing your true nature and remaining present as the silent witness (Sakshibhava) throughout daily life.
