Nondual (Skt. अद्वैत, Advaita) means not-two, indicating that existence is a single, indivisible whole without any real division or separation.

On the path of knowledge, nonduality is expressed as:

• The experiencer and the experience are one, not two

• The seen and the seer are the same existence

• There is no subject-object split in reality

• The dream and the dreamer are one

• Oneness is the true nature of existence

The nondual understanding is that all apparent divisions (between self and other, inside and outside, subject and object) are illusory, arising from ignorance and the conceptual mind. In reality, there is only one existence appearing as the diversity of experience.

Nonduality is not a state of mind, as states come and go. It is the recognition of the ever-present truth of oneness.
