Scripture (Skt. शास्त्र, Shastra) is sacred text or authoritative writing in a religious tradition.

On the path of knowledge, scripture is:

• A source of information, not knowledge

• Based on authority, not direct experience

• Not a valid means of knowledge

• Subject to critical examination

The path of knowledge does not accept any scripture as authoritative. All claims must be verified through direct experience and logic.
