Upanishads

The Upanishads (Skt. उपनिषद्) are a collection of ancient Indian philosophical texts that form the basis of vedanta philosophy.

The Upanishads are significant on the path of knowledge because:
  • They teach the identity of the individual self (Atman) with the ultimate reality (Brahman)
  • They emphasize the importance of a guru for transmitting knowledge
The path of knowledge draws from the Upanishadic tradition while critically examining its claims through direct experience and logic.
