The
Goal (Skt. लक्ष्य
Lakshya) of the
path of knowledge is the complete destruction and removal of
ignorance, leading to absolute
freedom and
bliss.
Nature of the Goal
Unlike other worldly endeavors, the goal of this path is highly unique:
- A Subtractive Goal: The goal is not to accumulate a pile of words, books, or spiritual concepts to memorize and discuss. It is a negative path aimed purely at the removal of ignorance and obstacles.
- Starting at the End: The experiencer (your true Self) is already whole, complete, and eternally free. The goal, therefore, is not to achieve or construct something new, but to recognize that which already is.
- Bliss as the Fruit: The ultimate outcome of clearing away false beliefs and conditioning is entering a stable state of peace and bliss which is the natural result of self knowledge.
