Substance (Skt. द्रव्य, Dravya) is that which underlies all change and persists through it.

On the path of knowledge, substance is:

• The true nature or essence of things

• What remains when all changes are removed

• Not a material substance but the experiencer itself

• Identical with existence

The substance is true, while the forms it takes are false because they change.
