Greater Memory

Greater memory (also called universal memory or collective memory) is the vast memory space that contains the experiences of all beings. On the path of knowledge, it is the substrate in which individual layers of memory exist as local configurations.

The Nature of Greater Memory

  • Individual memory is a local structure within the greater memory — like a eddy in a river or a file on a hard drive.
  • It is not separate from the individual — what appears as 'my memory' is a localized access point to the universal field.
  • The greater memory has layers corresponding to the gross, subtle, and causal bodies, each with its own density and scope.

On the Path of Knowledge

  • When a seeker accesses deep states of awareness, they can tap into the greater memory, experiencing knowledge and events beyond their individual history.
  • The ultimate realization is that the greater memory itself is an experience appearing in the experiencer — even the universal field is not what we truly are.
