Surrender

In the context of the Path Of Knowledge, surrender means :

Before knowledge

  • Accepting that I am ignorant, I don't know.
  • Giving up the arrogance, such as, I am the smartest all knowing person and others are fools.
  • Acknowledging that the teachings have a merit.
  • Accepting discipleship of a Guru
  • Respect for the chosen path.

After knowledge

  • Giving up the old, accepting the new.
  • Giving up ignorance as well as knowledge.
  • Realising that there is nothing to know really.
  • Living a peaceful, blissful life.

What it is not

Surrender does not mean:

  • Believing blindly the teachings.
  • Trusting Gurus blindly.
  • Following all the instructions mindlessly or religiously.
  • Preaching how great my path is to everyone.
  • Copying the guru mindlessly.
  • Practicing something superstitiously.
  • Believing the books blindly.
