Empty (Skt. शून्य Shunya) describes the ultimate nature of existence as being completely devoid of independent substance, separate objects, or permanent individual identities.

Empty of False Assumptions

On the path of knowledge, "empty" does not refer to a physical void or a blank container. Rather, it means that Existence is empty of all the conceptual attributes we mistakenly project onto it:

• No Independent Substance: There is no solid "matter" at the root of the universe; everything is composed of fleeting, non-substantial vibrations in memory.

• No Spatio-Temporal Grid: There is no absolute time, space, or external causality in pure Existence. These are merely organizing concepts computed by the mind.

• No Separate "I": The individual ego and personal identity have no independent existence; they are temporary, simulated patterns of memory.

The Fullness of Emptiness

Paradoxically, this emptiness is not a state of deprivation or absolute nothingness. It is a fullness — an infinite ocean of potential and possibilities. It is the pristine, zero-dimensional background of the experiencer (the Self). Because it is completely empty of change, qualities, and defects, it is absolute perfection, peace, and bliss.
