An entity is something that exists as a distinct, independent unit.

On the path of knowledge, the concept of entity is critically examined:

• There are no truly independent entities - everything depends on existence

• What appears as separate entities are patterns in memory

• The experiencer is not an entity

• Nonduality means there are no separate entities in reality

The appearance of separate entities is part of the illusion of name and form.
