Unreal (Skt. मिथ्या, Mithya) is that which has no ultimate reality.

On the path of knowledge, the unreal is:

• All experience - because it is constantly changing

• The world of objects and individuals

• The illusion of separation

• Not non-existent but not ultimately real

The unreal appears real due to ignorance. Upon self realisation, one sees through the unreal to the real existence.
