Atmabodha Verse 41

Verse 41 In this verse Shankaracharya is talking about, the trinity of Vedanta. The knower: antahkarana(unit of mind-intellect- chitta-ego) without whom the concept of knowing becomes irrelevant. for example -sensations perceived are interpreted by the mind-intellect, the knower. The known: the object of knowing, without which there is nothing to be known; the entire world is the OBJECT OF KNOWING. The medium of knowing: the instrument or medium, through which knowing happens; (eyes, ears, touch, taste etc) the cognitive senses are the medium of knowing; for example :- When hands are clapped, the sound produced is the OBJECT OF KNOWING; ears are the MEDIUM OF KNOWING; And the intellect is the KNOWER of the sound thus produced. The world is a trinity of these three facets. The inferred knowledge may differ, depending on the intellect’s interpretation. The knower, known and the medium of knowing are separate from one another. Non of them can function in the absence of the light of the real Self - as cognitive senses and mind-intellect are inert. The distinction does not exist in the real Self, as none of this exists in the real Self. For, I/ Atman/ Self is neither the mind-intellect nor the senses nor the visible world. ‘I’ am the ever-conscious, ever-blissful singular absolute existence. Anything that the mind can meditate on or contemplate on or remember, comes from the mind itself, everything is happening within the remit of the mind. God/ Self/ Atman is BEYOND the mind’s remit. The objects of remembrance or contemplation do not exist in I the Self. The trinity does not exist in I. Self is known by the Self. ~ By Bindu सारांश: श्लोक 41: जानकारी प्राप्त करने के लिए यह तीन पड़ाव है: * जानकार का होना * जो जान जा सके * जानने का माध्यम वेदांत में यह तीन शाखाएं त्रिमूर्ति कहलाती हैं।यह सब : • एक दूसरे पर निर्भर हैं । •एक के बिना दूसरे का कोई अस्तित्व नहीं है। •एक दूसरे से भिन्न है। उदाहरण के लिए : यदि हम ताली बजाते हैं। तो *ताली की आवाज = जिसको जाना जा सके * कानों द्वारा सुनना = माध्यम *बुद्धि का जानना= जानकार किसी भी वस्तु/ मनुष्य के विषय में जानना सब के लिए एक हो सकता है। परंतु , उसके विषय में..... अनुमानित ज्ञान ( समझ पाना) ... सबके लिए अलग-अलग होगा । क्योंकि वह हर एक की बुद्धि की व्याख्या पर निर्भर करेगा। और नतीजन....... हमारी प्रतिक्रिया (reaction ) भी यही बुद्धि की व्याख्या ही तह करती है। क्योंकि एक ही आदमी किसी का दोस्त और दूसरे का दुश्मन हो सकता है। इस तरह, हमारा सुख -दुःख भी बुद्धि से संबंधित है। सांसारिक चीजों का हमारे सुख- दुःख से कोई वास्ता नहीं है । यह सुख- दुःख हमारी मन /बुद्धि के विवेचन पर ही निर्भर हैं। एक ही वस्तु किसी के सुख और किसी के दुःख का कारण हो सकती है। संसार भी इसी त्रिमूर्ति का एक पहलू है: *जानकार =अन्तःकरण ( मन बुद्धि अहंकार) *जानने योग्य= ‌ संसार *माध्यम =परोक्ष ज्ञान ‌ ‌ परंतु आत्मा ना ही अंतःकरण है, ना ही संसार और ना ही परोक्ष ज्ञान है। अपितु यह तो चैतन्य शाश्वत , अद्वितीय और अखण्ड है। आगे शंकराचार्य जी कहते हैं: _वह सब जिस पर मनन किया जा सके और _ जिसको हम याद रख सकें यह सब स्मृतियां मन का भाग है और यहीं तक सीमित हैं। परंतु( भगवान) आत्मा को मन द्वारा नहीं जाना जा सकता। यह संभव नहीं है। ‌‌ आत्मा ही आत्मा को जानती है। आत्मा को जानने के लिए कोई माध्यम की आवश्यकता नहीं है । आत्मा ही परम सत्य है~ By Archana
