Atmabodha Verse 42

पुरातन काल में यज्ञ की अग्नि... को मंथन की प्रतिक्रिया और घर्षण बल द्वारा प्रज्वलित किया जाता था। इस प्रक्रिया को 'अरानी' कहां जाता है। शंकराचार्य जी आत्मा को अरानी बताते हैं। इस संदर्भ में मंथन का कार्य साधना करती है ।इस तरह मंथन रूपी साधना से ज्ञान की अग्नि प्रकाशित हो जाती है और सारा अज्ञान भस्म हो जाता है। हमें , इन दो विरोधी तथ्यों को को समझना जरूरी है : 1.... आत्मा पर साधना संभव नहीं है। 2.... ज्ञान प्राप्ति के लिए आत्मा पर साधना करना जरूरी है। अगर मनन करें तो यह समझा जा सकता है कि जब तक यह मन संसार में उलझा है। संसारी तो इस मायाजाल में ही डोलता रहता है। तब तक वो साधना से कोसों दूर हैं। ऐसे मन को आत्मा की तरफ प्रेरित करने के लिए साधना रूपी यंत्र की आवश्यकता है। साधना से •मन को भीतर मोड़ा जा सकता है। •इस तरह वैराग्य उत्पन्न हो जाएगा। •संसार से अनासक्ति हो जाएगी। •यह ज्ञान हो जाएगा कि संसार एक भ्रम है । •यही से मन की भीतरी यात्रा का आरंभ होगा। ज्ञान हो जाने के बाद, अब प्रश्न यह उठता है कि ... साधना किस पर करनी है ? मोह-माया से विमुख होने पर..... *मन किसी पर साधना नहीं करेगा। क्योंकि * अब सांसारिक कुछ बचा ही नहीं... जिस पर साधना की जा सके। *जब मन के पास संसार का कुछ सोचने के लिए ही नहीं है तो *मन खुद-ब-खुद शांत और स्थिर हो जाता है । *मन वैराग्यी हो जाता है। *साधना कुछ और नहीं अपितु यही है.... मन का परम शांति में समा जाना। *इस तरह वैराग्यी होने पर....... मन स्वच्छ और निर्मल हो जाता है । *फलस्वरूप ,आत्मा का प्रतिबिंब मन पर उज्जवल नजर आता है। और * यही आत्मज्ञान की स्थिति है। अतएव ,आत्मज्ञान प्राप्त होने के पश्चात....हम आत्मा पर साधना नहीं करते। बल्कि, वैराग्य में ओर गहरा उतरते चले जाते हैं। क्योंकि आत्मा पर साधना संभव नहीं है। आत्मा पर साधना का अर्थ तो यह हुआ .... जैसे सागर को प्याले में समेटना। जब सीमित सागर ही प्याले में नहीं समेटा जा सकता ।तो असीम आत्मा मन में कैसे सिमट सकती है। आगे , भगवान कोई वस्तु तो हैं नहीं... जिस पर साधना की जा सके। साधना एक मंथन रुपी क्रिया है ... जिससे ज्ञान की अग्नि जलती है और अज्ञान का नाश होता है। मन का आत्मा पर साधना करना संभव नहीं है । पर आत्मा तक पहुंचने के लिए मन-बुद्धि का एक होना ज़रूरी है। नतीजन, मन का शुद्धिकरण और बुद्धि का गिरना .... आत्मा को जानने के लिए आवश्यक है। निस्संदेह,साधक का प्रयोजन .... शुद्धिकरण करना है और गुरु का उद्देश्य.. उसे ज्ञान देना है ।ताकि उसकी अज्ञानता मिट सके।~ By Archana Verse 42 In this verse Shankaracharya is says, the Self is the ‘aranu’ (like a contrivance used in ancient times to ignite the fire for yagya) the meditation is the tool ( used as a churner); the churning done by the meditation, ignites the fire of jnana - which would incinerate the ignorance and the impurities in the mind. Meditation is an attempt to turn the mind in words. When a deep dispassion arises within the mind, it will move away from the outer world when there is nothing external left to meditate on, when there is nothing worldly that the mind thinks about - the mind becomes quiet. MEDITATION IS NOTHING, BUT THE QUIETUDE OF THE MIND. As the mind becomes still, self realisation happens. When the mind is turned inwards, it is quietening of the mind; NOT meditating on the Self. The infinite Self cannot be contained in a small mind; God is not an object that can be meditated upon. God is beyond the remit of the mind. Claiming to meditate on God or Self is like claiming to pour an ocean into a teacup. Mind can only think of that, which is in its field of knowing. Mind I cannot meditate upon Self, but the mind-intellect have to become integrated to gain the knowledge of Self. It is the disciples job to purify his mind and it is a Guru’s job to impart jnana, that would eradicate all the ignorance. ~By Bindu
