Atmabodha Verse 48 & 49

Verse 48 This entire phenomenal world is indubitably, the Atman itself. ‘I’ am sentient, the world is inert; I am eternal, the world is perishable ; ‘I’ am all pervading, the world is limited by time and space. Similarly, Jiva are varied but Self is one; bodies are multifarious but the Self is one. An enlightened being sees his own Self in everything and every being. Or one can say, He sees everything and every being in his own Self. If focused only on the form, the essence will be missed. Once one realises the essence of ‘I’ the real Self, automatically the essence of ‘I’ in every other being is known. This is the truth of Upanishad, “By knowing the One; you end up knowing everything.” The One is none other than ‘I’ the Atman. Verse 49 Intellect abides close to the Self, followed by the mind, then the senses and the body; the outermost is the entire objective world. All these abide in Self. When shrouded by ignorance, mind-intellect’s characteristics are mistaken to be one’s traits. On gaining self knowledge, the liberated enlightened being leaves all the traits( upadhis). Being old or young, healthy or sick, are the attributes of the body mistaken to be ‘I’ the Self’s attribute. Dumb or intelligent, reflects the quality of the intellect; sinner or virtuous reflects the traits of the mind. But once the ignorance gets dispelled, it becomes clear these or not the qualities of the Self. Under the intense supervision of an enlightened master, disciple eventually comprehends and realises ‘I’ am the supreme Self. This radical metamorphosis is brought by the Master. The Master simply unveils the real identity. Endowed with the liberating knowledge, the disciple abides in eternal bliss. Only a master can liberate one from the clutches of ignorance, from the bondage of birth and death. Guru is the saviour, the redeemer who delivers one to the eternally liberating destination of enlightenment. श्लोक 47: जैसे मिट्टी के बर्तन चाहे *विभिन्न अकार के हों या *विभिन्न नाप के हो पर सब की रचना मट्टी से ही है । मिट्टी ही उनका तत्व है। इसी तरह जीव और शरीर भी अनेक हैं। पर इन सबका तत्व आत्मा ही है। अगर हम केवल घड़े को देखते हैं तब हम मिट्टी को नहीं देख पाते। परंतु अगर हम जान ले की घड़ा केवल मिट्टी है ..... तो यह साफ हो जाएगा कि सारे घड़े मात्र मिट्टी हैं। ठीक इसी तरह हम भी माया में जीव देख रहे हैं ।जबकि ज्ञानी केवल आत्मा देखता है। इस तरह ज्ञानी सब में स्वयं को देखता है .... ऐसे भी कह सकते हैं कि स्वयं में सब को देखता है। इदम का अर्थ है &gt; यह &gt;संसार &gt; नश्वर &gt; सीमित &gt; जड़ है। जबकि अहम् का अर्थ है &gt; आत्मा &gt;शाश्वत &gt;सर्वव्यापक &gt; संवेदनशील है। जिस क्षण अपने तत्व का ज्ञान होगा -उसी पल बाकी सब के तत्व भी स्पष्ट हो जायेंगे । उपनिषदों में भी यही वर्णित है कि स्वयं को जानते ही बाकी सब भी उजागर हो जाता है। श्लोक 49 : अज्ञानता के कारण ..... हमने मन -बुद्धि की उपाधियों को अपना रखा है । परंतु जैसे ही अपने तत्व का ज्ञान होता है ... यह भ्रम टूट जाता है। शंकराचार्य जी ततैया का उदाहरण देते हुए बताते हैं कि यह ऐसा कीड़ा है... जो कीड़े मकोड़े पर जीवन व्यतीत करता है। यदि कोई कीड़ा इसके घोंसले में घुसता है .. .... तो ततैया उस पर ऐसे वश से मंडराता है कि वह बेचारा हारकर अपना व्यवहार छोड़कर .... ततैया की तरह ही हो जाता है। परन्तु यह कैसे संभव है ? पर इस मुद्दे पर तर्क करना मक़सद नहीं है। यह उदाहरण केवल गुरु और शिष्य के संबंध को दर्शाता है। शिष्य गुरु के समक्ष गलत धारणाओं के बोझ तले आता है । यहां ,गुरु का लगातार ततैया की तरह उस पर वश पूर्ण मंडराना और आत्म- ज्ञान के बारे में हमेशा गुनगुनाते रहना ....... आखिरकार शिष्य को हृदय परिवर्तन पर मजबूर कर ही देता है। इस तरह वो प्रबोधन पा जाता है । यही उसकी असली अवस्था है। गुरु केवल उसकी अज्ञानता का परदा ही हटाता है। जिसके फलस्वरूप शिष्य शाश्वत प्रेम में झूम उठता है। अतः, गुरु वो मुक्तिदाता है ..... जो हमारा उद्धार करके .... हमें परम ज्ञान देता है। इसलिए कबीर ने भी कहा है.... कि गुरु और गोविंद के बीच में गुरु का स्थान ऊंचा है।
