Atmabodha Verse 47 (1)

.श्लोक 47,: अगर बिजली के अभाव में अंधेरे कमरे से कुछ लाना हो तो टा‌र्च की जरूरत पड़ती है ।परंतु अगर वही कोई चमचमाती हुई वस्तु को लाना हो ... तो टोर्च की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं होगी । इसी तरह आत्मा भी स्वयं में प्रकाशमान है और आत्मा को जानने के लिए किसी चीज की आवश्यकता नहीं है। इसी के प्रकाश में सबकुछ प्रकाशित होता है। शरीर आत्मा से सबसे दूर और बुद्धि के सबसे नजदीक है। यही कारण है मूर्ख व्यक्ति भी आसानी से समझ लेता है कि वे शरीर नहीं है । पर वही पर खुद को बुद्धि से दूर कर पाना नामुमकिन सा हो जाता है। जब हमारी निराशाजनक मनोस्थिति होती है।तब इसका अभास मन ही करता है। बाकी सब इस स्थिति से अनभिज्ञ होते हैं। मन की इस स्थिति को पहचानने के लिए मन ,बुद्धि, आंखों आदि की जरूरत नहीं है ।यह स्वयं ही स्पष्ट हो जाता है। शंकराचार्य जी इस कथन को गहराई में समझाते हैं ....कि सारा संसार आत्मा के प्रकाश में कार्यरत है। क्योंकि ,सारी जानकारी का केंद्र - मन/ बुद्धि है । सरल शब्दों में बोलें तो सारा संसार मन में केंद्रित है। यह मन आत्मा में केंद्रित है। अतः सारा संसार आत्मा में केंद्रित है। पर यह कैसे संभव है ?इसका उत्तर हम इस तरह दे सकते हैं .....जैसे स्वपन जगत का .... केंद्र हमारा मन है ।सपना जब तक चलता रहता है ... वो सत्य प्रतीत होता है।हमारे उठते ही स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि यह सत्य नहीं था। परंतु सच्चाई तो यह भी है कि बहारी जगत भी सपने में झूठा ही लगता हैऔर स्वप्न जगत सच लगता है। स्वपन जगत की सच्चाई और बाहरी जगत की सच्चाई आपस में कभी इधर और कभी उधर होती रहती है। जो कभी सच लगता है। दूसरी समय वह झूठ लगता है। परंतु यह तो परम सत्य नहीं हुआ। The Self is incandescent; its light illuminates every thing. When Self’s/ Atman’s light falls on mind-intellect, ‘I’ knows the functioning of mind-intellect. Similarly Self’s light is required, for all the cognitive senses to function. But no external light is required to see Self, for ‘I’ am self illuminating. This is known as enlightenment. ‘I’ am ever conscious; thus I don’t need anything to know/see myself. Body is farthest from and the intellect is closest to the Self. There is a gap between body and the Self. But with its close proximity with the intellect, it is difficult to understand the concept of NOT BEING THE INTELLECT. The understanding and contemplating that ‘I’ am not this intellect is also illuminated in the mind-intellect. Mind-intellect cannot go beyond this. The state of one’s mind is only known to oneself. The intellect’s ability or inability to comprehend is known, only to oneself. But to know Self, the help of cognitive abilities or senses or mind or intellect is not required - this is what it means to be self-illuminated. Self is known by Self. Shankaracharya says, a Self-realised yogi sees the whole world abiding in his own Self. All the information lies in the mind - the Sun is shining, stars are shining, everything that is seen / perceived/felt - all these information lies in the mind. All the knowledge of algebra,medicine, anatomy, astrology, sociology, and so on, lies in our mind. Thus we can say that the entire world exists in the mind. And THIS MIND EXISTS IN ‘I’ THE REAL SELF. Therefore we can say that the ENTIRE WORLD EXISTS IN ‘I’ THE SELF. [mind is in the ‘I’; 'I’ is not the mind…… I/Self is the substratum/canvas of the mind-intellect (on which a wide range of emotions, feelings, information etc are painted/projected.) It is the canvas on which everything exists.]
